Hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been playing 40k for almost 20 years, on and off. I primarily play Orks (orks orks orks orks), but have temporarily retired that army. I will definitely get back into them, but I haven't played 6th edition yet, and if I don't start a new army now, I'll never get around to it. Thus, I am finally getting around to building a Space Marine chapter, as well as learning 6th edition.
The current plan is to make a 21st founding chapter called the Decapitators, known to be based off of White Scars gene seed, but rumored to have other sources. Their particularly savage fighting style (they are headhunters and adorn themselves with the heads and skulls of the enemy) has led to publicly acknowledged rumors of gene seed contribution from Space Wolves or Blood Angels. Some even whisper that they contain traces of World Eaters gene seed... which is, of course, absurd. What is known is that they exist solely to hunt and kill enemies of the Imperium of Man, particularly those who have somehow offended the Decapitators directly, or another space marine chapter with whom the Decapitators have spilled blood. To that end, they have been known to ignore distress calls from PDFs, the Imperial Navy, and even the Ordo Hereticus itself, all in pursuit of private punitive strikes. This, combined with their mysterious founding and overall ferocity, has led the Inquisition to threaten the Decapitators with a declaration of Excommunicate Traitoris, although no formal actions beyond investigation have taken place as of yet.
I am going with the mixed gene seed background for a couple of reasons. First, I like the idea of the mystery in the 13th and 21st foundings. I particularly like the idea of a SM army that has some questionable gene seed (note that the World Eaters gene seed still exists and is pure enough in and of itself), although I understand that this idea is odious to some people. Consequently, I have kept is as a rumor, which of course the Decapitators vehemently deny. Second, I want to have the option to make multiple detachments of the same Chapter with different Chapter Tactics, or possibly using different codices. This is a good vehicle for that.
The color scheme will be bone and black (primary and secondary), with a royal blue accent color. They will also wear scattered animal furs, which will mostly be tiger pelts (I think blue and orange go well with bone). Bikes will have animal skulls on the front, tucked below the twin-linked bolters. I just bought a bunch of bikes and attack bikes, a couple transports, and some infantry, as well as some marauder and space wolf bits. Also, I am not 100% sold on the name the Decapitators. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. for example, I love Skull Takers but it's already taken by a famous Khornate warband and an Imperial Guard regiment.

Welcome to dakka mate.
6th hasn't been all that kind to da boyz, to do well we have to run a very un-orky shooty style list... probably not a bad idea to retire them until their update early next year

Hey! I didn't think anyone would actually read this, let alone bother to reply. I actually play a more shooty-oriented Ork army, with the exception of one slugga mob and one death star nobz mob in a BW (which I know is much worse than it used to be). Other than that, it's all shoota boyz, grots, and artillery. I play Blood Axes, mostly, so looking forward to incorporating a minimal IG detachment full of looted Leman Russes (which I have converted to use as Looted Wagons). I'm thinking Penal gang for troops, to represent Diggas. I know they don't get along great with the ladz, but it should be interesting. Plus, like I said, I already have the Russes.
Anyway, I would love to get some feedback on the idea for the chapter, or maybe a suggestion about where to post the idea for feedback. Thanks again!
