So my rebel guard army want to burn all the aguilas from their tanks... Thoughts on how to make this look cool?

I don't own a soldering iron, and not really sure that I fancy inhaling burning plastic... Has anyone done something similar to good effect? I'm figuring that the melta squad did the duties on the tanks. On the las guns, they can be shaved of quite neatly. Same on Cadian armour...

North of your position

Try chopping/cutting some away with clippers, knifes and all that.

knives, clippers, and needle files make short work of aquila icons.

If you're looking for superficial melting, poly cement should do the trick. I'm not convinced you'll really be able to convey the effect without exaggerating it to the point that a soldering iron or stock removal and sculpting are required, but plastic glue solvents are a bit milder (or at least stink less and dissipate more quickly) than the fumes from burning plastic.

Combining ideas carve it away and then use the cement to make it look like it was melted maybe?

As above, use a pin/needle paper clip
Hold it with a pliers

Heat it up and melt a line across carefully.

Leave the slag on there if you want but mixed gas cut metals will have a nice slag like.

(edit actually the solvent idea is probably safer (actually both seem like a terrible ideas )
