I attempted a search for this in a recent thread but no luck. So my apologies if I have killed another horse for beating...

I just looked at the digital releases and I see the BA Codex is out in digital format. Has anyone bought it, and found any differences from the most recent paperback version?

I got the impression from another thread somewhere that it was essentially the old codex with the FAQ/errata done and things like hull points added. Essentially nothing you can't already get from the old codex + 6th ed rule book.

I haven't seen it personally though.

Tempted to spend the money. I'll sleep on it, then decide. If I do purchase it I'll run through them, and post here what I find.
Thanks Herzlos for posting.

So it's just the standard ebook, not enhanced?

Once you get into the purchase you have the chance or link to get an iBook version that is enhanced.

It is an "interactive" edition.

Same cover art seems to imply just a digital reprint of the existing book. Bummer. Can you make an all jump pack army out of the new SM codex or still only BA?

You can come close with one of the forgeworld Chapter Tactics which allows Assault/Vanguard to be scoring, but not as troops.

Does anyone know if there are changes to the points costs of any units? Just wondering if its worth buying the codex or not. I have the paper one.

There will be no functional changes to this book. This is not a new edition, it is just a new format.

There will be incorporations of 6th rules into entries, but nothing new, just possibly more convenient to have them all in one place.

I can't find the thread now but I'm sure we've discussed this before, and it's not a surprise that it's just a digital re-issue updated with FAQ/Errata. Maybe we discussed it in the Sororitas thread?

Just a simple reprint? Are there even any Warlord traits?

Well since I only bought my print blood angels book a couple of years ago, I'd be a little miffed if they put extra content in the digital reprint.

I would be surprised if they didn't put it in. I mean AS got them. I guess this is not a new thing then and AS was something different.

If there are additions incorporating the new rules then it is simpley NOT a reprint. However, I'm not spending money on the likes of this if that's all it is since I own the paper version already. Why wouldn't the BA be able to use the new vehicles, and the Centurian unit? Surley hope GW is just throwing the old Codice in digital form until new ones come out. Otherwise theres a chance I may become a grumbling whiner like so many others, I guess I haven't whined much because I've been mostly untouched by changes, other than prices...
If I do buy it I will post, I may have to take one for the team just so we know. Plus I've read that when changes come ie updates or fixes that the digital formats will be altered.

Nothing has changed. It is literally the original BA Codex 5th ed.

The same reason Dark Angels doesn't get fast rhinos, the new stuff, and centurions. It's the cost of being a SSC and having your own codex.

Centurians, and the flyers haven't been round that long. The Stormravon is in the BA Codex not the Talon, I figured it was becasue the model wasn't out thus it wasn't in the dex. Centurians fit into the assault format of the BA's for breaching walls. A mobile anti-air platform would aslo fit into the mobility...

Hardly. I'm enjoying my purchase. Especially now that I don't have to mess around with remembering to bring the FAQ ever again.

Ok, turn out your lights and Moopy will tell you a story! Turn them out I say! That's better...

I have purchased the digital one and I bought the physical one way back in yesteryear.

There are a few differences between the two- not huge but nice to have.

1. As stated, all the FAQ are included in the digital version (I have the ipad one so it will continue to be updated and I'll never have to go hunting for it). This is big for me because I have a super power, and that power is I forget to bring the FAQ to the battle, or I'll ALWAYS be missing one or two pages. So the fact I don't have to convince some luddite that the FAQs do exist, is wonderful. Less papers to rifle through = faster game = good times.

2. A few new pieces of art. Not huge murals but it was a nice surprise.

No new units, or rules. All rules remain the same, so that means that the Vanguard can still assault the turn they deep strike if they have jump packs. etc.

Lastly, I really REALLY enjoy the hyper links for abilities and item abilities, and they're on every single entry. Amen.

I hope you enjoyed that tale of olde! Turn on your lights! Turn them on!
