Not sure if this means much but I recently called GW to order a Trebuchet since the website said 4 weeks to deliver, and they told me they aren't sure if they are going to be restocked ever on the Trebuchet, Questing Knights Finecast, or the Grail Knights Finecast. Additionally, the generic Hero and Lord models have been completely removed from the range for order on the GW website with the exception of a BSB, Special Characters, and Damsels.

While the mail order folks didn't really want to speculate, they said this kind of ambiguity about an armies range typically means an update is incoming. I hope so because paying $75 for 5 knights, and have to wait a month for them to arrive is awful.

That's interesting. Especially because the latest WD had a batrep with them with apparently (I don't have the WD so I can't verify) different point values and peg knights on monstrous cav bases.

Hastings had Bretonnia as 2015. 40k Radio didn't say anything about them in the first part of 2014, so a full release is unlikely any time soon.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a plastic wave or dual kit show up randomly though, kinda like Chaos had. Hopefully soon, I like seeing Bretonnia on the table.

It would be an utter shame if all you saw on the table was a bunch of Demons and Elves and there was no "Knights in shinging armor" running around. But people buy what people buy.

GW is losing any motivation to renew moulds for metal and Finecast models.
Doesn't mean that any model missing is an indication for a soon release. Not even if it is an old range with many metal and Finecast models.
Dwarfs and Wood Elves seem to come before Bretonnia.

Something tells me if you're expecting a lower price on the new minis, prepare to be disappointed.

Pretty sure Witches, Black Guard, Executioners, and Dark Riders all got cheaper. Not by much, but they did.

I'd say riburn3 can expect to be paying only $70 for 5 knights.

And note that the horses for those knights are plastic. The price is wholly unjustified in any sane world.

Yeah, all other indications posted here point to Dwarfs and WE...

That said, I just got my first finecast models since the material was first released- some old style tyranid rippers. Was really surprised they were offered in the medium, and even more surprised that they looked good when I received them

I don't know if it's all molds that they're not renewing, or just molds from lines that aren't selling well due to not having been updated in forever...

Remember that Bretonnians really aren't selling at the moment. I don't think I've seen anyone buy any in the past year or two.

I think it's more that they are just trying to bump along finecast, from what I can recall someone quoted when talking to a designer at games day, that the master plan is to phase out finecast models and one day everything will be plastic.

As you can see with the latest releases, this is very much happening. The new dark elves didn't get one single (new) fine-cast model - all plastic lords/heroes.

So yes they certainly aren't motivated, but that might be because there are other plastic things coming down the pipe.

Well, given that most of us who play Bretts have been waiting for years for a reason to expand our armies that doesn't surprise me.

No reason to buy if our armies are complete and GW hasn't released anything new for us in almost a decade.

IF I was to start WHFB (and that's a big, Hollywood sign size if) it would be Bretts or WE, possibly a combination if the rumours from back along are true.

No other army really speaks to me, I've always been a cavalryman at heart (Unicorn Clan in L5R, did have a small Brett army many moons ago, always favour speed, manoeuvrability and hitting power in factions I choose in other games)

I doubt there's many of me, but we have seen armies really brought to the fore with a quality update, rules and model wise, in the last couple of years, no reason to think this would be different if done right.

Nah, I don't mind paying a premium price for solid minis, but would prefer plastic. I actually just bought some VC blood knights to use as hero converions in my Mousillon themed army, and those 5 models were over $100 after taxes. Prices have more than doubled since I started the hobby back in the 90's and I'm still here. The intention of my statement was more that if I am going to be forking over some serious cash, at least have the models available.

I'd also like to add that when Empire released it caught everyone by surprise. While predictions as of late have been pretty close, just glancing through several threads over the last year have shown that even those "In the know" aren't always right.

People who have Bret armies have no reason to expand. Those who don't have disincentives to start one.

Not in this edition you won't.

Man, both those armies got punked hard by the whole Steadfast & Horde rules.
