So my son has a pile of tyranids and we are going to enter a doubles tournament thing. I have necrons and am running:
D Lord
6 Wraiths (4w coils)
2 Ann Barges
5 warriors (N Scythe)
15 warriors (N Scythe)
10 Immortals (N Scythe)
So we kind if want something that is going to have some synergy with that.
He has:
Flyrant (strangle thorn cannon)
Harpy (we kit bashed one with a dragon and carnifex bits think it has the TL strangle thorn cannon)
The battle force
Extra termagaunts (we think 17...?)
Extra gene stealers (probably 15 in total?)
A zoanthrope (DoM'T?)
10 gargoyles
3 warriors (all built different - one has venom cannon)
A carnifex
And we've ordered some eggs to make mycetic spores with (4?)
Help me to make a good thousand point list that can work with mine to become a good doubles team.

Well a must have is a flyrant with twin linked devourers, one of the best units in the codex, especially with mastery level 2. Maybe get 2, then you will have 5 flyers, and if you hug cover with your tyrants first turn you can time it right with your scythes to strike all at once. I would then take 2 of the big mothers which poo gaunts out so you won't be short of scoring units. As for the rest not really sure but every game I've played against nids those units have been a pain in the rectum.
The current basic tyranid army is 2x Flyrant with 2x devourers, 2x Tervigon with 2x 10 termagaunts, and Doom in sPod. For 1000 points, I suggest using 1 Flyrant, 2 Tervigons and Doom.
And for the remaining 100 points, 2 Hive Guard.
For the 2 Tervigons, you will need 2x10 termagants just to run them, plus around 20-20 more to spawn gants, so for 2 tervigons around 60 termagants!
Not to mention, because of the allies rules, you will have a hard time working together.
Maybe my initial post wasn't quite clear. What I am looking for is a list made up from the models my son already has. he's already asked for two Tervigons for Christmas... but this tourney is in a couple of weeks.
He has the models above. I'm running the list I've got. The flyrant is a must play. As, I'd presume, is the Doom of Malantai, using his Zoanthrope... What else out of the existing models to get to 1000pts.
The tourney are letting us ally, despite tables as its an independent doubles tournament.
Just out of interest, it'll help me go through it with the boy, why not Ymgral genestealers?
And what do you do about not being able to assault after deepstriking? Presumably that is a turn of shooting attention that the Carnifex is going to bathe in (providing he gets in!).
Glad to see the Harpy in your list. We spent ages on him.
Mostly because you need 2 troops and I'm not a fan of the other options you have. If you had a warrior squad you could use (you said your Warriors all had different equipment and the codex doesn't allow that) that'd work, but since you don't...

You could drop down to 6 Stealers and fit in a Broodlord... the issue I have with Broodlords is that you're paying 60+ points for the chance to roll well on the Biomancy table - and if you roll a witchfire you're stuck (since he has a 0 BS).
Up to you, but I'd rather have the 4 extra stealers.
