I've been working on creating army lists for Deadzone to use GW minis/fluff, with GW names and so on with the Deadzone rule set probably strictly 40k vs 40k, but with the goal to be completely balanced with existing Deadzone armies. They will be fully featured lists with troops, equipment, stats and cards. For example (first completely untested draft):

Space Marine list
Troops
- Tactical Marine Shoot 5 Fight 6 Survive 4 Armour 2 Command - Points TBD Type Troop Size 1 Equipment: Bolter
- Assault Marine Shoot 6 Fight 5 Survive 4 Armour 2 Command - Points TBD Type Troop Size 1 Equipment: Chainsword, Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack

Will creation and posting this sort of thing online in complete lists have any copyright/trademark problems? As I understand it WRT strictly 40k rules, the only problem is publishing the full rules and points values, or copying the aesthetics when making new models but it's best to be certain. If so, what would need to be altered, such as renaming Space Marine to Interstellar Marine etc. Related, Mantic shouldn't have a problem with this either should they?

No problem at all, there have been lists for the various 40k and Fantasy factions for Warpath/ KoW for years.

Excellent, thanks SS just wanted to make sure so I could post it when it's ready. Once I have a rough draft for the main armies I'll throw it up here and/or the Mantic Deadzone forum to get some input.

edit: scratch that next request, found them.

Yup completely fine and we openly encourage that sort of thing to be shared here on dakka too. The articles section is a great place for archiving and logging changes (with comments) for things like that.

Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!

Lol, not even GW's legendary legal team can touch you for this. Keen to see what you've got, happy to help and/or piggyback off of your ideas because I'd love a way to use my 40k models in a less gakky game!

Make sure you don't put images of their models or iconography on anything you put together.

I am the one you warned me of

Happy to have the help Dakkamite, going to take a while to get usable and I only have so many ideas.

Yep won't use any of their symbols Imaginos, but photos of game boards with our 40k minis should be fine I imagine, just need to steer clear of GW stock photos.

I've put up an what I have so far in a dakka article. Still very rough with lots of work to be done but it's a start. The rules are mostly contained in google spreadsheets since they're being changed so much still, those links are included.

Assault Marines and Vanguard vets will be fun to use I think! ; )
