Note: There's some pretty violent stuff ahead, be warned
Brock Lesnar is a former UFC fighter and a damn good fighter during his time.
He was never the most technical fighter, and had little to no training compared to the guys he fights, but JESUS he's possibly the physically strongest (weight lifting, not striking) fighter in the UFC, and arguably the fastest heavyweight in spite of his massive frame.
He was quite possibly the single most athletic person in the history of MMA moving around his 280lb body like a darn lightweight, and overpowering people with submissions who used the exact defense they're supposed to, through massive strength differences.
He could take a beating to, he took an unbelievable amount of punishment from Carwin and was no worse for wear. He even won that fight.
VS Mir

VS Carwin

Look out how much abuse he can take, Christ. He wins by overpowering him at the end.

Debut

Look at him bodying this dude, dragging his weight around like nothing.

Lesnar actually has one of the hardest punches in the UFC (1350 psi) one of the only fighters who "hits harder" (Fighters facing him have reported his punches to hurt far less and have far less effect than Lesnar's or Carwin's) is Velasquez who hits at 2230 psi (boschitt)

So why does he have so much gak being talked about him? There's a lot gak that white athletes have to take for whatever reason, and Lesnar's WWE background probably didn't help.
In the end Lesnar gets his career ended by Overeem who constantly focused on his stomach (Lesnar has a serious stomach condition, with 2 attacks during his UFC career, with surgery needed to be done on both. 12 inches of colon gone. Ouch). Overeem should be disqualified or have his wages cut for gak like that.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:

Is there not a UFC forum you can post on?

Well this is an off topic forum. I just got the volition to post this for whatever reason. This shouldn't be a recurring thing, I'm sorry.

You can post whatever you like, it's just weird to only post UFC based threads.

EDIT 1:
WAIT! Aren't you the guy that did a load of insect based threads a few months ago?

EDIT 2:
My mistake, it was a series of general animal based threads that were poorly made copy+ pastes from assorted Oatmeal comics followed by an agressively awful thread on JoJo's Bizzare Adventure.

Don't be sorry Primordial. An off topic section on any forum is for members to converse with their community about whatever topic they choose. Not sure why anyone would have a problem with that.

My personal take on Brock Lesnar is that he receives hate because he rose to fame in the WWE with an obnoxious character and once he began UFC competition, part of that attitude carried over. IIRC there was some perceived arrogance or cockiness when he joined in more in the UFC and he lost some fights early on where his opponents made him look stupid.

As time has gone by he has definitely shown he is a great athlete, but those first impressions are hard to shake!

I didn't realize he was hated. A carryover from Pro wrestling perhaps?

Lesnar is indeed seriously obnoxious. Arguably one of the most obnoxious figures in the UFC (another title!!!). Most fighters don't even acknowledge the camera, but Lesnar directs the camera onto his face, in the most shameless way possible.

Well yeah white athletes get way less coverage. For example Carwin was champion for 3 years and a godlike striker and grappler ( multiple times the athlete velasquez is )but Velasquez who is new wins a few times and has his name in lights? Dafuq?

Not sure I'd agree with that. There are a lot of other factors that weigh into judging who gets more media coverage, I think race is of minimal influence. But that's just me.

Clay is around a dozen times the athlete Andre is and is significantly less well known. At least here. And we have an equal number of fans for the Packers and Texans here, in Walden.
Need more? I'm happy to oblige.

Jesus Christ, dude Your world view is... tiny. Clay Mathews is infinitely more well known than Andre Johnson. Clay has national ad sponsorship for crying out loud.

Are you gaking me?

Johnson isn't even the most recognized person on his own team. That would be reigning defensive player of the year and all around good guy JJ Watt, who is white.

And for feths sake, the three packers that get the most press are absolutely white dudes, in Matthews, Rodgers, and Hawk.

WTF are you smoking?

Also, in regards to fighters, you may want to do some research into a guy named Georges St Pierre. Or maybe Jonny Hendricks. Or Perhaps Alexander Gustaffson (who buy the way won the UFC 2014 cover contest). Or Chris Weidman.

You're not dropping this like the misconception it was.
All you're doing is making yourself look like a dog of this tumblr generation "white privilege" bs.
All Americans in the same talent level and income have the same privledges.
There's 5 words out of 200 about white athletes in the op.. Its totally about white athletes
To be fair Brock is an arrogant, show boating, asshat, but there are people saying he's a bad fighter after he was the first to take Carwin past round 1 and actually beat him. That's just not true.

I'm not typically the one to agree with d-USA , but you do realize that a disproportionate % of black athletes (and people in general) come from a vastly lower income level than your average white person, right?

Shane Carwin isn't a great fighter either. He's a good MMA striker. With no endurance.

Both are lucky they're not fighting dos santos or Velasquez or Cormier or Travis Browne or Fabricio Verdum or Stefan Struve.

Here's what the topic is: Why is Lesnar so widely hated to the point that despite his feats people are actually saying he's a bad fighter?

So you're saying that this guy is a total arsehole and you're wondering why people hate him?
More specifically you admit he's not a great technical fighter and you wonder why people say he's a bad fighter.
It's probably because he uses sheer brute force in place of skill which is far more stylish and showy and crowdpleasing...

Another primordial troll thread. Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

And here I am getting trolled again. Brock Lesnar is hated because he's the heels heel. He's A guy who made publicity for himself by crap talking anything and everything. He's a hell of an entertainer though for sure and is certainly an elite athlete. But he consistently intentially tried to be a D-bag for ratings at every point in his career.
