What constitutes an optimized imperial guard army? Lots of tanks? All infantry with plenty of heavy weapons?

I've been considering doing guard for a while but was unable to determine what would be the optimized list.

There are a million ways to play guard and hundreds of ways of playing them "right" However that means there are hundreds of thousands of ways of playing the wrong. What are you most interested in, You have three major paths to pick from. Drop troop, mech, and sit and shoot. All three have their advantages and disadvantages and all three are very different paths. What interests you more?

Really...Mech. So, I guess what constitutes a optimized mech guard army?

At 1850, 3 hell hounds, 3 russ hulls, and as many lascannons as you can fit in the list. So also argue for 2 russ hulls and one bassie with indirect as the board turns into a parking lot really quick. Keep all upgrades on the tanks and troops to a bare minium and you should do all right. If you are thinking about anything other than extra armor and smoke.... think again. Put a list together and post it. You will get plenty of good advice.
