I was thinking of waiting until the next Blood Angels codex came out (I should be done with my White Scars by then), and doing my next 40K project. I was looking at the cursed founding, and ran across one that caught my eye:

The Black Dragons: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Black_Dragons

What are your thoughts on doing this, and more importantly, doing it right?

I've been a fan of the Black Dragons since they were featured in the 4th edition rulebook, seems nobody ever noticed them though since every time I mention them to someone I only get puzzled looks. Also glad to see theres a book about them, gonna have to pick it up.

my advice would be to use tyranid scything talons to represent the forearmy blades (cant think of anything else that would work), shave them down a bit so they're narrower and more bonelike.

I really like the Black Dragons!

Could use toothpicks, appropriately sharpened to give them a killing edge. Scything Talons are far too large, although the claws from Lightning Claws might also work.

Remember that only "Dragon Claws" have the forearm blades; I'd use Death Company to represent them. Also, it would be cool if you could "true-scale" or "tall-scale" a few of them, as Dragon Claws are sometimes huge, even for Space Marines.

I suppose I could get the height/reach advantage by cutting at the knees area, and adding a pin about 1/4" longer than the actual holes, then filling in with green stuff.do the same to the forearms at the elbow and the upper arm at the shoulder.

I also figure the mutation of height should be reserved for the Dragon's Claws, as well as the characters possibly, though they won't have the forearm mutations.
