Hi ,
what are you using for counterweights under the bases, if the model tips over? Some of my Tyranid Hormagaunts look way over the base and tip over :(

Most people use coins.

Dunno about Germany

but in the US that involves pennies and nickles.

If you have slotted bases its probably a little harder.

Lead weights used for fishing are something that I have seen suggested before.

i was having the same issue with my Tyranids and i bought a box of small hex nuts to glue under the base. when you get them in the 200-300 count the cost is fractions of a penny.

Check the hardware store for washers the size of the base. I found some that are just the right size. They raise the model a few mil, but they look just fine when painted black.

I use the magnetic bases that Galeforce 9 makes, they're a couple of grams heavier than the standard bases. Expensive, but it'd probably weigh enough to stop something like a Hormagaunt from tipping.

I use rocks and such or small steel bearings with some greenstuff to make them look like normal rocks or spores or whatever. I don't really like putting stuff under the base because it messes with how the model sits on terrain pieces and such (normally in a bad way)

I used a pair of metal shears, cut pennies in half, and glued them underneath. Works pretty well.

To add a little extra weight I use coins or steel washers.
I then use ready mix plaster filler to create a smooth bottom & also adds a couple more grams.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

TBH if i'm just gonna be playing with the models an a generally flat surface i just squish some plastacine or blu tack under the slotta base , make sure its flush or indented so the model still sits on the rim.

Fishing line weights are very expensive.

Lead shot ballast is much cheaper in bulk. Used by scuba divers and model yacht makers and real yacht sailors.

Don't split up real cartridges to get the shot!

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
