So, here's a plan to try and prevent enemy heavy firepower from having any effect. Not sure if it'll work (there's not that much synapse in there) but swamping with 140 termagants and 4 FMCs can't go too badly, right?

The issue is half your FMCs are only 4+ saves and pretty easy to torrent down or kill in a single round with an AA unit (quad gun wounds you on 2+ with you getting no save). Whilst that is a lot of gaunts with no cheap poison around they just aren't much of a threat to anything. Yeah killing 145 gaunts would take a long time but killing 2 Flyrants and 2 Zoathropes and laughing as the gaunts just flee the table will not take a huge amount of time.

In this list I wonder if Devilgaunts are the best bet because at the moment there is no incentive to ever fire at the gaunts until the synapse is dead and there's nothing else left to shoot.

Hmmm thats a good point. My thinking with the FMCs was that they would at least have a degree of protection if there were four of them (say if they can reliably down one per turn, it still gives the others some breathing space to wreak some havoc).

Swapping out some termagants for devourers:

Crones are probably a bad idea here, but if you don't try em you'll never know. Just keep track of what they do, if they make their point back or not. Just remember with such fragile units you need to prioritize targets because you will likely only get one volley. If you can bring a lot of tall terrain to block LOS that could be a game changer for you.

I would take a 5th FMC in this list type if you're trying to over load with FMCs then take as many as you can.

I wonder if Genestealers would be a better troops fit for this list. They start up field so add to the early game pressure and multiple threat overload. They also don't need synapse sitting and with Broodlords casting The Horror at the enemy to pin his units causing firepower issues (and mobility issues).

Genes could work better, and I do think a 5th FMC would just make the flyers a bit much to deal with. But with just termes maybe try walking the Tyrants along side them, near the venom thrope giving them a 3+ cover, then once the gaunts become a threat you go into swooping with ur FMCs that way all your threats hit at once. The one thing you don't want to happen with this list is have ur FMCs get taken out before your Terems are even posing a threat
