Subject: Las Lock?!

I see the new Tech Thrall models from FW are equipped with Las Locks. I always pictured them as an old musket type weapon, like a 40k brown bess. But they are sadly different. The models are still cool as are the weapons but just not what I imagined. Have I just been delusional or did I pick up this idea some were in the black library? Anyone else any memories or thoughts on the humble Las Lock?
I also now have a good excuse to use my remaining FW shipping voucher!

Yeah, that voucher, I found it today, better order more artillery
Laslocks are in a Gaunt novel, where they're described as a laser musket, one shot-reload weapon, slowly to reload, but apparently packing a nasty punch.

An AK47 does not look like a FN2000. That does not mean they are not assault rifles.

I suppose.... Just a bit disappointed, not with the models, they look immense. Was just excited when I saw the words Las Lock was expecting something more flintlock like.

Nah, that would go against the Ad mech aethestic.
If you want laslocks that looks like something from the 16th century that just has glowing stuff on it, you'd have to wait for them to release a bunch of chaos cultists armed with them. Or space skaven. Neither of which are probably not going to happen anytime soon.

Go get some Civil War models, cut the guns off them, and glue them to your 40K figures. Laslocls for days.
(In the interests of full disclosure, I, too, have always considered a las-lock to be a flintlock that shoots lasers.)

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

I always assumed a las-lock as a bolt-action lasgun, requiring some sort of loading lever to prime a new charge.
