Greetings all,

I have a game against Black Templars next weekend and would like feedback and recommendations for improvement on the following list:

Dark Eldar (primary)

HQ:
Baron

Troops:
3 x 5 Wyches w/ Haywire Grenades in Venom w/SC

Fast Attack:
5 x Beastmasters, 6 x Khymera, 6 Razorwing Flocks

Heavy Support:
3 x Ravagers w/Night Shields

Eldar (allied detachment)

HQ:
Farseer on Jet Bike w/Singing Spear and Shard of Anaris

Troops:
2 x 3 Windrider Jet Bikes

Fast Attack:
2 x 5 Warp Spiders

A few comments/questions on the list:

1. I haven't seen the latest Space Marines codex. Are Blessed Hull Land Raiders still an option for Black Templars? I ask because that is the reason I am taking the Wyches instead of Warriors and/or Blasterborn.

2. The intent is to have the Baron and Farseer (who hopefully gets Fortune) attached to the Beast Pack, which, along with the Warp Spiders, will press forward in order wreck stuff/generally cause mayhem in the hopes of forcing some difficult choices about target priority for my opponent.

3. At the same time the Wyches will also move up (and most likely die instantly), but at least that is shooting that is not going towards the Beasts or the Ravagers.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/comments.

Looks pretty good overall. Things to change/consider changing:

Drop one of the warp spider squads, you only get one FA with the allies, so is illegal.

The beastpack has too many members (my opinion).

I'd recommend switching out one of the wyches for a 5 man warrior w/ blaster, two haywyches is enough.

Use the extra points from the warp spiders and drop one windrider to get a squad in wave serpent. It's probably the best anti-air unit available in a dark eldar/eldar army.

Thanks very much for the advice. I didn't realize you could only take one allied FA choice. Thanks for that!

I took your suggestions and the revised list looks like this:
HQ:
Baron

Troops:
2 x 5 Wyches w/HWG and Venoms
1 x 5 Warriors w/Blaster

Fast Attack:
4 Beastmasters, 5 Khymera, 5 Flocks

Heavy Support:
3 x Ravagers w/ Night Shields

Eldar
HQ:
Shardseer on Jet Bike

Troops:
5 x Dire Avengers in Wave Serpent w/SC/SL/HF
3 x Jet Bikes

Fast Attack:
7 x Warp Spiders

How does this look?

Also, any idea whether Blessed Hull Land Raiders will be too difficult for me to reliably take down with the Wyches?

Looking pretty light on troops...

Really? I thought five troop choices at 1500 was about average. What would you recommend?

On the lightness of troops, I'm assuming the comment is because haywyches are basically suicide squads and barely count as troops. Still, I think that this should be sufficient at 1500 pts.
I don't know about the blessed hull, but if 3 ravagers and two squads of haywyches isn't enough to take down two(?) land raiders at 1500 points, perhaps I'm playing the wrong army.
I'd look into adding the shuriken cannon to one of the jetbikes and get the points for it from either one less warp spider or dropping the holofields. My experience with wave serpents in a DE army is that they get ignored for a while in most cases. Most opponents (rightly) target the easily destroyed dark eldar vehicles first. If you were heavy Eldar, I'd keep them, but with all the AV 10-11 and open topped stuff... meh. Perhaps try it out for yourself first and see if you have the same experience.
Speaking of AV 10 open topped, because of this same concept, war walkers with either SL x2 or SL/Starcannon are also a nice add for a DE force because they don't have a giant target painted on them like they do in a full eldar force. Dropping 2 warp spiders + holofield + (beast?) would allow you to add one in, which IMO is an overall bonus.

Wow, I'm really surprised that a Wave Serpent would get ignored if all the other vehicles are AV10/11. I figured it would be the top shooting priority for the other army. I'll try it out and see if I have a similar experience. I'll think about adding a War Walker but would rather have a full squad of 3. I suppose if I had to I could maybe drop the Wave Serpent. Hmmm, not sure about that, though. I think I'll play the first game with the Wave Serpent and see how that goes. I can find the points to get a shuriken cannon for the jet bikes though.

I also forgot that, yeah, the Wyches are basically suicide shock troops so maybe it might be worth it to find the points to put the other squad of jet bikes back in so I have three troop choices who aren't pre-destined to die a glorious death while they charge a giant tank.
