I have been thinking up some ideas for a viable mech list and here is about the third version I have come up with. Please let me know what you think and how it might be improved.
HQ: Master of the Forge, Bike, zip around repairing stuff, 110pts
Troops: 4 x 6-man tac squads, 1 with each of grav gun, plasma gun, flamer, heavy bolter, 2 with Veteran Sergeant with power weapon. Kept as 2 x 12 man squads but far enough apart to differentiate between squads- 431 pts
2 Razorbacks with twin-linked assault cannon- 150pts Fire support for tac squads
Drop pod, deathwind launcher, empty. used to land in front of hordes or block lanes of advance. I know it can't fire on the turn it arrives, but if placed right the enemy has to waste shots destroying it or get a pie plate. Best for lower armour save horde units, but annoying nonetheless
Fast Attack: 2 Stormtalons with win-linked lascannon. Emergency firepower to fill gaps in case of destroyed vehicles in the first few turns- 280
Heavy Support: 2 Vindicators, 1 tri-las predator- pie plates with long range support- 390 pts
Total: 1412 pts. The rest could be a melta bike squad, attack bike, or I could drop the pod (haha) and take another unit, assault squad, dreadnought or another master of the forge. Thoughts?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Originally I went for a whirlwind instead of the pred but there's already enough AV11 about Automatically Appended Next Post: I guess it must just be an amazing list with no flaws, even with the lack of close combat unit
That or Iron Hands lists are wearing a bit thin in these parts. I have seen a lot more here recently.
