Hello!

I'm about to start converting my little Eldar army to Corsairs, and will likely soon buy some new models! In a couple of months there will be a tournament which I might go to... Not a very competitive tournament (you get extra points for creative paintjobs and "fluffy" lists, as well as penalties for cheesy lists and "uncreative" paintjobs - such as just spraying your army). Now, this obviously means I won't build a super-cheesy tournament list (as if that even was possible with Corsairs...), but I'm trying to come up with a decently balanced list which can hold its own against most other types of armies (I'm counting on most armies not being spammy). It's limited to 1999pts (guess they don't wan double force organization charts...).

So, here's goes!

Primary Detachment (Corsairs)

HQ:
Corsair Prince w/ Void Sabre, Balelight, Corsair Jet Pack and Shadowfield
/175pts

Troops:
10 Corsairs w/ 2 Eldar Missile Launchers and Corsair Jet Packs (Prince will in most cases go here)
5 Corsairs in Corsair Falcon w/ Scatter Lasers
5 Corsairs in Corsair Falcon w/ Scatter Lasers
2 Wasp Assault Walkers w/ Dual Scatter Lasers
/695pts

Elites:
5 Outcast Fire Dragons
/110pts

Fast Attack:
Nightwing Interceptor
Nightwing Interceptor
/290pts

Heavy Support:
Phoenix Bomber
Phoenix Bomber w/ Nightfire Missile Launchers
/460pts

Allied Detachment (Eldar)

HQ:
Farseer on Jetbike w/ Mantle of the Laughing God
/155pts

Troops:
10 Guardians w/ Scatter Lasers
/110pts

Total: 1995pts

General tactics:
- Corsair Squad with Jet Packs as well as Guardians stand back, holding objectives. If there are no objectives, I might play them a bit more agressively later on.
- Prince joins the Corsair Squad, uses his Void Strike whenever it is required, and can potentially play a bit more of an agressive and harassing role if required.
- Falcons do what they do: blast down what they can from a long distance.
- Farseer runs around, buffing/debuffing what he can. Depending on enemy and what powers, also she can go for an offensive, harrasing role.
- Nightwings and Phoenix Hunters stay away from anti-air-weaponry while blasting enemy infantry, tanks and flyers to pieces.
- Outcast Fragons deep strike through Sky Raiders and pop a nice, big, juicy Tank, MC, etc.
- Wasps either Deep Strike or start on the board, lending firepower where required.

Basics of the fluff (please come with name suggestions! Haven't come up with any yet... So wherever it says _NAME_, I'm woriking on it!):

The Corsair Fleet _NAME_, led by the Corsair Prince _NAME_ - Former Autarch of Craftworld _NAME_ - have earned a fearsome reputation throughout the galaxy for their incredibly quick and indeniably effective raids. By lesser races they are viewed as arrogant and selfish, but very few are aware that this is not the case. The Fleet only ever select their targets from those who are potential enemies of their former Craftworld, even in their exile trying to prevent the Craftworlds doom. Even on the Craftworld, few people know of the Corsair Prince's dedicated work to keep them safe - only a few highly reputable Farseers know of it: one of them being the former love of the Prince.

The Craftworld recently foresaw a new threat, and so decided to crush this threat before it was too late. The Farseer known as _NAME_ - the Corsair Princes former lover - predicted a great failure. Other Farseers refused to see this, and set off to deal with the threat. Farseer _NAME_ decided to stay behind and looked to the Harlequins for help. The Harlequins gave her a fabled Mantle and sent her to do whatever she considered the right thing to do. She quickly made up her mind and set off to the Corsair Fleet, and convinced the Prince to do what he could to prevent this doom. Taking the Farseer for her word, the Prince readied his Fleet for battle and set off.

Arriving at the planet to which the Craftworld had sent its troops, it was obvious that they where to late. All that remained was a unit of Guardians whom, at the command of the final Dire Avenger Exarch, where running to save themselves. Just as the Exarch fell, the first wave of the Corsairs landed, and hope returned...

So, what do you think? Is the list balanced enough not to be completely crushed by other friendly, fluffy lists? And, of course, what do you think of the Fluff?

Any feedback appreciated! Just remember: NO CHEESE!

The Twilight Zone

Solid, although I would swag out your prince with a balelight over the 11th guardian in your eldar allies. The balelight is a bit fluffier as it makes your prince deadlier at close range, and less reliant on the guardians.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Thanks for the reply! I agree with that being a good idea! I'll edit the list to add that.

Any other advice, or is it solid enough already?
