So I managed to get in a game of Necromunda for my campaign. It was a simple Gang Fight between our two Van Saar games so I thought I try and make my first battle report informally. It takes place in the point of view of my Gang Leader Technician Paladin Rahn for the Guardians of the Machine Spirit, a mix of Adeptus Astartes tactics with a good amount of knowledge of Necromunda and its inhabitants, working as a semi-secret organization for the Adeptus Mechanicus. Their mission is to find what is a rumoured STC technology on the planet and after finding it get back off-planet.
Currently we only have three people in this campaign but we might plan to have more soon.
Background Pre-Battle:
+Approximately a week after planetfall and setting up a base of operation in the underhive of Hive Primus, the Guardian of the Machine spirit Necromunda chapter dispatch led by Technician Paladin Rahn started its mission to find rumored reports of ancient STC technologies that where hidden in some of the remote parts of the planet and bring it back to the Adeptus Mechanicus once a sufficient amount was found. However, the search thus far for the rumored STC technologies, and only found rather rundown weaponry on the planets surface after losing much of their equipment at planet fall.
On a daily scouting mission for the STC technologies and some better equipment for the dispatch, Paladin Rahn and his team encountered what seemed to be a local gang from House Van Saar. Being raised in the House a long time ago and knowing of their culture, Rahn knew that this encounter can only occur in two ways: Avoiding conflict by splitting the find of what technologies there possibly were or an full-on fire fight after a failed parley for said technologies. After trying to contact this gang with a stray fire shot as a reply, Rhan as assured which way this was going to go.....+
Set-up and Deployment: My opponent Shawn winning the roll off, he decide to take first turn but I was allowed to deploy first. My set up was kind of simple: try and cover all possible places he can move to cover and hide and try to take him out in overwatch as much as possible. His set-up afterwards was to try and rush me without trying to get caught in my overwatches.
Turn one: For us, it was kind of basic. He ran one of his gangers and a juve to the yellow building and moved along the ramps and hid most of his gang inside the buildings and along the ramps. His heavy with a plasma cannon takes a shot at the juve in cover along the edge, bringing him down but not killing him. On my part of the turn, I put my one heavy in the ruins into overwatch and fire some pot shots at some models I can see, but missing entirely. Ran up my leader and juve to the ruined yellow building. Also hid my other juve and moved up my other heavy and ganger into better position.
Turn two: He starts off by moving his juve and two gangers into better position to take a few shots at my juve and leader. His other juve moves out of hiding and triggers my heavy's overwatch, which takes him down. He shoots at my juve with his ganger and juve, missing once and then hitting but not killing him which pins my juve. His other ganger misses my leader completely, and puts his other models into hiding and runs another. My part of the turn comes up, and my juve cannot do anything due to being pinned. My first heavy tries to take a sustained shot at one ganger on the catwalk, but jams, then my other ganger aims and takes him out of action, and passed his ammo roll.. My other heavy does his sustained shot but jams and my ganger by him shoots and misses. My leader moved up and fired his plasma gun, hitting on a six, but failing to wound and the ammo roll. My downed juve crawls and my other ganger just runs to a better position. My pinned juve gets unpinned now.
Turn three: He moves up more of his models and hides some of them as well them as well. He drops his heavy with a plasma cannon down to get a better view of a good clump of my gang. A few shots were taken on my juve and leader but they both miss. Almost the same thing happens on my turn, with putting my far left heavy on overwatch and shooting at his ganger and juve but missing with the other heavy, leader, juve, and ganger. My downed juve is still downed and can only crawl around.
Turn four: He moves his leader and juve closer up to me, as my heavy fires overwatch on his juve with sustained fire but jams again, as well as failing is ammo roll. His heavy fires his plasma cannon at a nice clump of guys but misses and deviates far away. My turn comes up as both my leader and juve charge into combat to try and take out his juve and ganger to force him to make a bottle test. My ganger and heavy on the far left fail to take out the juve, so my juve over their decides to take a shot. It connects and takes his juve out, making him take a bottle test in which he fails on a 9 to his leaders 8.
After-action report: Two of my juves advanced, one getting the marksman skill and the other getting a +1 BS and Ld stat increase. One ganger also advanced and got a +1 BS stat increase as well. My juve that was down had to make a injury roll on the injury table and got a full recovery. My opponents ganger that was out got multiple wounds, and he decides to replace him with a new ganger and retire the old after everything is done. My
three gangers worked the territory and got a net of 75 creds off of it. Although our rolls sucked ass, I thank Shawn for the fun game still!
My MVP goes to the Juve Adept Alexander who I thought would not do jack gak, but managed to make the game with that shot.
LVP goes to my heavies who seem to think jamming is a really funny idea and one failing his ammo roll (although that could have been prevented if I was a bit smarter with it.
Post battle background:
+After the skirmish with the Van Saar gang known as The Recyclers and fending them off, Rahn went to check on Adept Jonathan to see the extent of his injuries, seeing that he was unconscious but alright. Although he knew that he was off planet for a long time for the training he under went, Rahn, as well as his team, knew that is was only the beginning of the hardships and combat that they were about to experience in the underhive of Hive Primus....+
