Subject: GW Nuln Oil Problems

Cackling Chaos Conscript

Hey everyone
I use a lot of GW Nuln Oil for my painting, just as a once over at the end to bring out to details and such like. I have 2 pots so far. Pot number 1 I used about 90% and then it started to give out a very.. different look. Instead of making the models look a little shiny and stand out it really dulled the model down, something I really did not want.
My second pot has started doing the same thing, and is probably only about 50% full/empty (take your pick!). Am I doing something wrong, is their a correct way to storing these which I am not doing?
Any help would be appropriated, I am a poor poor student who cant afford to but tons of paint :(
Thanks!

From what you say, I'd guess you are not shaking the pot before you use it, and the pigment is concentrating on the bottom of the pot.
Possible? If so, you can dilute with distilled water.
If you are shaking the pots good, then I don't know.

I'm at the bottom of my 3rd pot or so, and it still goes on fine. As with any paint or wash, shake it well before using. I've never had problems with any washes, and I've always shaken them beforehand.

Make sure your brush is very clean before washing. Sounds like small amounts of paint have been mixed in and that changes how it looks

Give it a good shake as well, I've had problems when a wash goes on very glossy, but after giving the pot a good shake it went on fine again

I use Nuln Oil for everything I paint and I've never had this problem. Just shake it well before each use and that should keep the pigment even throughout the pot.
