I am planning on buying an airbrush to do some camo patterns. I would like to try making screamer pink more metallic. My plan was to mix ledbelcher with screamer pink. Do you think this would work?


Also, what mixture ratios do you use when base coating using Citadel paints in an airbrush?

It's different for every colour, as every colour varies in consistency. Aim for skimmed milk and you're about there.

As for metallicising, Vallejo do a metallic medium that should do what you want. Leadbelcher will work, but as it is in many respects a metallic black, it may alter the underlying colour of Screamer Pink more than the proper stuff.

Alternatively, put down a good coat of silver, then spray very thin coats of Screamer Pink over the top.

Mix it with either the Metalic medium, or the VMA Steel paint. Those are my usual two go-tos for mixing up a metallic that I don't have handily pre-mixed.

Mixing a regular paint with a metallic works, but: it turns the shade significantly brighter, ie turns a red pinkish. Also, adding the metallic makes the resultant mixture act more as a metallic, so be careful thinning it. You'll wind up with floating particals. Good luck, interestin color scheme there.

I think Mixing of ledbelcher with screamer pink is really a fantastic idea.

I never had much luck getting leadbelcher through my airbrush. The metal flecks always clogged the nozzle. If you've never used an airbrush before, I recommend not starting with metallics unless you're using a metallic paint made for airbrushing.

If you want a pink metallic colour, the best idea for you is to purchase a metallic medium (Vallejo make one) and buy a good quality Pink artists ink. Add a few drops of the ink to the medium until you are happy with the colour and spray away.

This will hands down give you the best and most consistent results. However, it will prove hard to get it to match to Screamer pink exactly.

You could always try painting using pink NMM?

Edit ~ Also with regards to the mixtures for your Airbrush and Citadel metallics. I echo the comment from someone above saying they have never had much luck with getting them to go through. If you are going to try it, I suggest using a fabric paint seive/strainer before putting it into your airbrush, and possibly a drying retarder as well. Elsewise it clogs like hell.

Vallejo Model Air metallics are much less hassle and near enough.

What you could try doing is mix a bit of your metallic paint with your screamer pink, and see how it turns out. I would try using small amounts of different ratios to see which one you like best, and then move on from there.
