So it is commonly accepted that a priest and an inquisitor with rad granades and hammerhand really benefits a conscript squad. Together, these come to 95pts. Now for 105pts more you get to take Inquisitor Karamazov instead.
What you lose is rerolls to hit on the charge, and +1s from hammerhand. Also potentially losing rerolls to wound from the priest.
What you keep is an unbreakable unit and rad granades.
What you gain is, the option to go to ground, a character which is unlikely to be sniped out, quite a nice combat character, a relentless multimelta, a 12" moral and pinning test reroll bubble and frag granades.
But best of all - you gain his orbital strike relay. Whilst now making the squad reasonably more dangerous at range (I say reasonably due to the scatter), the real benefit is of course his 'by any means' special rule, meaning the template can be placed over any friendly model (even in combat) and IT WILL NOT SCATTER. Obviously if planning to use this you will have to detach karamazov from the squad before charging or being charged so he can still fire by not being locked in combat (so a priest in the unit would still be advisable). But what this means is you could quite happily sacrifice 10 conscripts (30pts) in a densly packed combat to utterly obliterate much more expensive unit.
What do you think?

I love it!

I think Karamasov and his "By any means" rule has a lot to offer that not many people are taking advantage of.

And the idea of detaching him right before the charge to drop the blast next round makes some sense. he will just be sitting out there on his own for that one turn, unless you detach him to move to a different squad.

I would also look in to any cheap unit that can outflank or deep strike. Can conscripts ride in a vendetta? because dropping them off to be blasted away by Karamasovs blast would also be hilarious.

I love karamov. I loved him even more when he ha SitNW conscripts to blow apart.

Your comparison is really irrelevant though. For double the points you gain the ability to GtG but run the risk (if rather small) to end up with a big expensive unit running off the board or getting swept in combat (it happens, even at Ld10 stubborn). I would call loosing prescience or hammer hand from the inquisitor as almost equal to the orbital relay on it's own (depends on what else you bring). You also loose most of your combat potential as before you could deny challenges and still have tons of reroll to hit, to wound, S4 attacks. Having Karamov be your only character in the unit means you will have to either loose almost all CC output or accept challenged from people like Abadon, Lysandor, and Draigo...all of whom will kill Karamov with practically no return damage. This means he gets more expensive as he needs a commissar challenge monkey. There is also some issues with keeping Karamov from getting killed and yet in range to do something, if you keep him in the back he will not contribute much but in the front he will take tons of wounds.

I really like him in a lasannon or autocannon blob. That or a smaller unit of conscripts with some psykers and an ADL.
