I am a long time 40k player and I wanted to get into WHF. I did my research, read up on the armies (even posted some questions here on dakka) and went back and forth between Bretonnians and Wood Elves. Finally decided to settle of Wood Elves. Got the army book and a few models and am starting to learn the game. But I am starting to realize that Wood Elves play very different than the other armies. I realized that the fast moving hit and run, shoot and scoot tactics that appealed to me might not be very fun for people to play against (especially if you play slower more melee focused armies like WOC or OK).

So my question is: is it fun to be an opponent and play against wood elves or is it just dull and frustrating chasing around units hoping you will catch them in a game devoid of excitement regardless if you win or loss.

Wood Elves' fast tactics are balanced out by the fact that they have glass bones and paper skin. And really, redirecting Chaos Warriors or Ogres is one of the things that prevents those two armies from being just point-and-click.

You won't be hated, just remember right now WE are shiny & new & untested. Eventually people will figure out their tricks & you won't have the complete element of surprise anymore.

So while some people may get frustrated now, once they know your tricks it'll be easier fo them to deal with.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

You should be fine. Wood Elves used to get a lot of hate for running points-denial lists (armies with big expensive units that stayed out of harm's way so as to never risk surrendering their VPs). The new book does not seem to rely nearly as much on those shenanigans. Like every army in WHFB, your experience will vary based on match-ups. Dark/High Elf infantry lists might be totally stymied by your shooting, whereas Warriors of Chaos may shrug it off.
