I am adding an Imperial Fist detachment to my GK list to act as an ultimatum with my shunting Interceptors and Dreadknight along with an Alpha Striking Mordrak with his Ghost Knights. To do this I decided to add Centurion Devastators to the mix. For the HQ, I am taking a Librarian in Terminator armor with Storm Shield to soak up shots taken at the Centurions as well as provide support psyker powers. I was going to use Lysander or in the least a Chapter Master since they have four wounds each but I have only 571 points to use for this detachment. The Inquisitior I have with my GK army is also going with the Centurions to make sure their grav cannons don't miss with Divination. The problem I am have with is what troop choice I take to go with this because my main reason is to get the Centurions but I still want the troops to be of value and not just there. Do I take a 5 man tac squad with a grav gun in a Razorback with a TL Lascannon or a 10 man tac squad with a grav gun and heavy bolter in a Rhino with extra armor or finally a 10 man tac squad with a grav gun and heavy bolter in a drop pod?

If you have other light vehicles I would say do the five man with a melta rather than grav with a tllc razorback. If that razorback would be your only av 11 vehicle I would say take the five man with melta in a pod. I would also try to fit a storm talon with skyhammer misslies in there. it is one of the best non-fw aa units in the game imo.

If you want a cheap troop a 5-man scout squad with bp/ccw, cloaks and LSS is a good value. Slap a HF on the LSS and you have a good contesting/late-game objective-grabber unit.

I don't have any other light vehicles on the field unless a psyrifleman Dreadnought is considered a light vehicle. Usually people just leave my Dreadnought alone since he is across the field and worry more about the GK that are bearing down on them. Now that you mention it though, I used to try and run my GK in with a Rhino and it never worked out well since it was the only one and it was able to popped really easily. In that case, yeah, the drop pod is the better option.

As far as the scouts in a speeder option, I did not even think of that as an option. That is far cheaper than the tactical squad and almost frees up enough points to allow for Lysander but it definitely lets me take the Chapter Master. My ally option right now is Eldar and the Jetbikes were awesome in getting objectives. Taking the Imperial Fists, I was worried about loosing my objective taker but the scouts in a LSS is an awesome solution to this. I have a good amount to think about now.

Just make sure your inquisitor is from the inquisition codex and not the GK one. GK aren't battle brothers with imperial fists, so no casting spells on them.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
