So, I have been kicking around the idea of setting up a club at the beginning of next school year to develope video games- nothing overly ambitious, difficulty ranging between mario and TF2 developement wise. I have talked to some of the administration, and downloading some tools onto the schools computers shouldn't be a problem(especially once I brought the possibility of helping with autodesk certifications) and I have about 3 programmers to work with, 5 modelers/ animators, and 2 people to work on music and sound recording.
Some of the stuff I need help with though is-
once the club is announced, people are going to want to join, many of them who are in it for playing video games, not making them. How selective should it be? Or should I just let people not willing to put in the work become dis-interested and not show up after a while?
Should the entire club work on one project at a time, or have people break off into groups to work on smaller projects? Should we have multiple small projects running, or just have some small ones for lessons until we start making a larger game?
What programs should we use? right now, I am thinking of starting off in free 2d unity to teach programming, and then have people use 3d max's student version(or blender if they prefer) and free unity 3d. Obviously, people would specialize off into programmers, modelers/animators, and other jobs, but that is the basic idea.

And most importantly, do you have any ideas for games? We aren't going to do any MMOs, we are trying to keep it very simple, with FPSs, FP puzzle and Mechwarrior(maybe) type games being the most complex.

and 40k was like McDonalds - you could get it anywhere - it wouldn't necessarily satisfy, but it was probably better than nothing.
