GW could save a lot of time and effort if, as a policy, they asked for a functional logical modelling of the rules.

That will avoid a huge amount of issue. Something similar to what you can do with www.machinations.io

I always wonder why they continue to strafe away from simbolism towards even more verbosity.

I can't condone a place where abusers and abused are threated the same: it's destined to doom, so there is no reason to participate in it.

Good on 'em. I'm assuming most of their current editors are more concerned with ensuring overall tone, consistency and quality than the specifics, and it's the specifics where the books really need help -- making sure tables match, cross-checking books, etc.

Were I 20 years younger (and eligible to work in the UK, natch), I'd apply in a heartbeat. I hope they find a good match -- the requirements scream "entry-level," and most copy editors need a few years to mature into the role.

Investment in to quality, are less important when you are a practical monopolist, and your customers buy what ever you produce at what ever quality you give. It is just a waste of money type of investment for GW.

I assume the people hired are either going to be friends of a friend of a friend, or they are going to be 23 post graduate and drained like a sponge with a fast rotation of people in the position of proof reader.

Maybe GW could take a cue and simplify things. Sometimes less really is more, right?

Simplifying processes can save a ton of headaches down the road. It reminds me of when I streamlined my own project management methods. It made a world of difference!

If you're looking to optimize further, have you thought about consulting with experts in process improvement? Recruitment agencies like Huntly often have connections to professionals who can offer fresh perspectives.
