The Joy of Wargaming has been ramping up to play some games of Castles in the Sky. Here are some of his initial attempts at playing the game. Might be of interest to those here:

Joy of Wargaming has even more Castles in the Sky content up!

There are a few rules errors that I address in the comments.

If anyone speaks German, perhaps you can give me an overview of this video?

Sure.

In the first third the presenter gives a short rundown about the general content of the book, and does not make many personal comments. He mentions positively the high-quality art, good production values and many helpful diagrams, and that the game rules are much more comprehensive than he initially thought they would be.

In the mid third he goes over the available factions, doing not much more than mentioning each by name, and again commenting positively on the high-quality art and photography. He voices interest in looking for some of the ship models (marketing opportunity there) and wonders whether they're commercially available or 3d prints. He also wonders about the scale of the models and terrain.

The last third of the video is again dedicated to looking at some details, notably the scale of the gamepieces and where to get hold of them. He then concludes by saying that the book merits a closer read-through, seems very enticing and complete and has a high production value. He mentions positively that Osprey Blue Books are available for a relatively cheap price. He ends the video with the promise of further, more detailed videos on the game, and says that he has already begun to print a fleet. In his final remarks he laments the effects of Brexit and mentions problems related with adquiring stuff from the UK, mostly tax- and customs-related.

Ordered some 3D printed fantasy ships, hoping to try out the ruleset in the coming weeks.

I look forward to seeing what you do with it SGTBanzi!

As promised, I put all the blog content of new ships, expanded rules, the QRS, and a few other tidbits into a PDF and put it up on the Wargame Vault.

It took a while as I've been busy working on other projects, but the starting point of the Iron Fleet is finally ready.

Maybe a little cheeky to ask here, but did you try the game those models come from?

No, I thought these are tie-ins for a boardgame rather than wargame? I know that the main line of these ships is for D&D purposes, but didn't know they had a wargaming ruleset to go with it.

I just thought they looked cool.

I admit I'm not a good photographer, the colours are completely messed up: the flagship creature should be bright emerald green, not dark blue.

Ah, okay. Started as a boardgame but now they have a wargame in public beta. Arcane Minis over on Myminifactory
