I don’t get the appeal of hairless cats/dogs. Why would you not want a fuzzy little friend? Besides allergies, shedding, washing, smells, more shedding, hairballs, etc?

I’m also not a big fan of animal breeding in general. Lot of bad stories about puppy mills etc. Plenty of friends to love at the shelter.

Also, void kitties are the best kitties. Let a little eldrich horror from beyond the pale of madness into your heart, you won’t regret it.

I would do some research into them and see if you can find some owners or even vets to ask about them. Always be a little sceptical of "designer" or "popular" breeds within animals.

Big risk is that because of the high value, you get a lot of fakes, but also really bad breeding practice. So you can end up with a lot of inbreeding and other issues from breeders who really don't care about anything other than the money.

Another thing is that sometimes really expensive breeds can have medical or health issues glossed over, when they are inherent flaws in the breeding or are the result of rampant inbreeding.


So ask vets about it, they generally have a good idea what's bad/good out there.

My first cat was terrified of the cat carrier, because it only ever came out to go to the vet. Bad juju.

So with my new cats, the cat carriers are in a dark corners, wide open, with a cat blanket in it. The cats use them as hidey-holes and secure nap locations. And thus, it's no big deal getting them into their carriers when we need to go somewhere.

Worked out really well when we had to move cross-country. They spent most of the trip in the carriers, even when the carriers were open so they could move around a bit. Kept the stress levels on cats and humans down to a manageable level.

Hairless or partially hairless is just as bad or worse than long hair in upkeep. As in they both require regular maintenance.

I also agree here, its always the result of fashion-breeding.. with so many health-issues to the poor lifeform.
Cat's should have fur and normal ears and tails etc, it all has its function to keep the cat in optimal condition equating to health.

My old cat back when I was a kid was also a black cat and other than it smelling like a leather jacket in the rain' it was the best friend I ever had, always sleeping on my bed (and scaring my nips off whenever I woke up and saw it jawning in the dark lol).. Its name was "Doerak" which is dutch for someone that is 'naughty'.

That's another point for pet owners, especially cat owners, to bear in mind. They'll sleep where they want to sleep. And if you don't let them sleep on the bed, you'll have to wake up and shoo them OFF the bed. Easy to do with a large dog; they'll wake you up just by being there. Less easy with a cat who sneaks up on you.

Sure, you can kick them clear out of the bedroom and close the door. Expect to hear complaints from just outside the door; which may or may not be worse than just allowing the cat to get their way.

However, if there happens to be a Mrs. Grotsnik, make sure to remove all pets from the bedroom before having 'shared quality time together'. Pets have a tendency to want attention at VERY inopportune moments if you don't.

If you are a light sleeper then be prepared for being woken at night to provide a light repast.

Get a catflap, and allow him/her to roam. but be ready for an extended period where they don't come back, and also for 'gifts' - prey of various sizes they bring back, and not necessarily leave in an obvious place. Prepare to find a week old mouse or bird under a piece of furniture.

Our cats were a cause of great worry, expense and eventually, grief. But I wouldn't change a thing.

Yeah. I am currently sleeping in the spare room, on account of apparently snoring like a chapter of Hells Angels passing by. I don't like cats sitting on me in the middle of the night, and keep the bedroom door closed. Our girl cat apparently likes to watch the sun come up from the window ledge of the spare room - so she scrabbles at the door from about 6am (earlier in the summer) until such time as either she gets bored or I let her in. Normally the latter happens first. Cats are bloody stubborn.

My gut feeling is like sphynx cats Lykoi shouldn't really be outside as they've really not got enough fur to keep them warm if something goes wrong eg if they get spooked, trapped, treed by a dog etc
