1 - Take a look at the 3.5 codices. That was when listbuilding was actually fun. Bring it back.

2 - The universe needs both width and depth. Give some proper focus to something else than SM/Imperium, the game and the lore will become healthier.

something like the activation system in Bolt Action would be interesting (dice for each unit in a bag, draw one, activate a unit), especially with a "turn ends now" dice added so not everything gets to activate each turn. its also pretty simple.

or something similar to how Chain of Command does it, each side has a pool of command dice each "turn", roll them, results indicate what you can do with units and it gives officers something to do.

or anything that brings an actual command and control system to add a bit of the fog of war (and let command points influence it)

Yeah, but it is a system, in general the whole AA thing, that only works, because it is a skirmish system. Try playing something like GSC, IG or SoB with 20+ units/vehicles on the table and AA falls apart. Even worse, GW loves to give some faction out of sequance movment/shoting/teleporting/etc. Those would break a AA system in a second.

Maybe if w40k was 20-25 models for elite armies and 40-50 models for horde, an AA system could make sense. But good luck convincing that a w40k army is done with 5-6 boxes, unless they make each box cost four times as much as they cost now.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.
