I am not entirely sure if this counts as a rumor or not and from what i read of the tenets and as far as i know this counts as substantial. If this isn't then just lock/delete the thread please and that I'm sorry ahead of time if this doesn't count.

I had ordered some sisters of battle models to expand my army for an escalation series thats going on at my local GW store and i was wondering where my order was since it should have came in by now (i had ordered it two weeks ago). I looked to see if it had a tracking number or any info to where it was and it didn't have any or even a confirm that it was even shipped! I asked if the red shirt at my store could call and find out where it was. After calling and checking up on my order he told me that there was an issue with some of the models i had ordered and that they where as the person who he was talking to on the phone had said some of the models where "obsolete models, with final runs being ordered from HQ before changes". I asked if the guy really used those words and that's what my fellow red shirt had said since i couldn't hear what the guy on the phone said myself. So my order is postponed for about two more weeks.

Some of the models that where called "obsolete" where: Superior with chain sword and bolt pistol, sister with storm bolter 1, and sisters of battle seraphim 2. Two of these models aren't on the website any more.

I'm not saying that this means sisters are getting new models or going plastic or anything "changes" is a super vague term and could mean anything from being squatted to going finecast or plastic or whatever. But i'm still excited about the future of Sisters as a whole. (and upset and feel slightly bait and switched if they are squatted )

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

I just rechecked the site and you're right. We have less models now. It could be a good sign.

Very doubtful. Squats still exist, they just don't have the numbers to make war with. Adepta Sororitas however are simply one of Mankind's many many military divisions.
On topic- this was brought up a couple of months back by me when the various models started disappearing from GW website.

As a sympathisant of the BBs, I hope you get new models soon! I think sisters are a distinct faction that has a lot of flavour and style to them, so they wont be squatted. Even the most oblivious CEO will probably realise that bad sales are not atributed to a lack of interest in the army but rather to the fact that the models are a) ancient and b) twice as expensive as anything comparable in all other factions.

The phrase from that conversation "before changes" intrigues me. Then again, it might be years before changes and they're just shelving them now anyway.

i feel like if they do a new release or update that it won't be a "big" thing just a little "oh hey look what we are doing along with updating dark eldar!" type deal. Won't know til it happens i guess.

Maybe the Wood Elf Gw-wide sell out has made them rethink what causes sagging sales to a line?

If 10 year old Wood Elves instantly sell out after new rules and a couple new kits, maybe Sisters will do the same?

Well, they're running out of things to update...unless they make all those 6th ed dex's into new 7th ed ones.
Honestly, I expect to see "Supplement: Ultramarines 3rd company, second platoon" before I expect to see an update for SOB.

Hey, don’t talk about the Ultramarines 3rd company, second platoon like that! They are my go-to choice when I need a third tactical squad on the table. I’d totally pay good money to have a supplement for them! [/sarcasm]

If they were to do an Ultramarine supplement (which they really shouldn’t, but probably will) the 3rd company is not a bad choice. 2nd being the other strong contender. But I do hope GW can hold off on frivolous stuff like that and give the SoB the attention they deserve.

GW has shown a fair amount of disinterest in sisters for a long time, they've keep the miniatures available as it just helps them milk their original investment a bit more without requiring them to put in further money.

If they stated those models were obsolete it could very well mean that the molds finally wore out, while the molds for metal miniatures do last a very long time they do eventually go bad and it could be the case where their lifetime is up and GW won't be replacing them as they've washed their hands of producing metal.

Most of the sisters models that are still listed on the website state that they are metal, so IMO that leaves two options, first and most likely option is that if the models become available again they will be produced in finecast from here out, or the second option is that sister might end up with a new release (although I find this to be a bit doubtful given their spotty support for them in the past).

Being that finecast is their new preference for models I suspect that's why the metals are termed as obsolete as they are trying to sell through their backstock of metals before they make the switch to finecrap... err finecast.

My impression is GWs been sitting on a bunch of stuff and that they've really outpaced either manufacturing capability or planned release cycles capacity. In the last year we've been getting a number of things rumored from several years back. Sisters of Battle are another one of those things rumored... Who knows how much was born out of them getting that mini-redo of their codex and how much was the legitimate rework of the model range simply unreleased like other items?-I'm inclined to believe SoB are getting a rework and it's just a matter of time.

Back when Dark Eldar had their last codex release, there was a strong rumour that plastic Sisters were being worked on by Jes Godwyn himself. He was apparently having trouble getting them right, as the models had a lot of undercuts. As that was 4 years ago though, and considering what they've released in the meantimes, there should be some models just waiting on a release.
