Recently finished painting this, the second miniature I've ever painted.

Simple, understated, awesome. This is what wizards should look like.

Reminds me of dragonlance, Raistlin style

The Force is strong in this one. Much future potential there is.

Great work!

Thank you all so much! The first mini I painted was a necromancer from Reaper Bones, but I screwed it up when i tried spraying on the varnish at the end. Here's a couple of photos so you can see how that turned out:

I'll post some more soon. I've finished a Gnoll Warrior and am currently working on Kjell Bloodbear (Barbarian). I need some more basing supplies before I start to experiment with that, and am working on setting up a lightbox for photos.

Varnishes are very unforgiving. I recommend always trying them out on something else before applying them on your mini.

I like Liquitex Matte Varnish. There is no possible way to screw up with this varnish. You can get it at Michael's. I spray it in 80F and 90+% humidity with no frosting or problems (I live near the Glades), so I know it always works.

Thanks! I'm actually headed to Michael's today to pick up some jewelry clasps for my wife, so I'll look for that. The varnish I used when I had the problems was Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze. I've had no trouble with their Matte Finish.
