Just returned from a game which ended very badly. My opponent and I had a disagreement on which turn it was: 4th or 5th. Despite me putting forward irrefutable evidence, he just kept dismissing it saying that the unit had done nothing, not even move or shoot. We argued about for quite a lot of time, before I decided to end the argument and end the game. I said to him that for any win/draw/loss ratios, this would be a draw for both of us. Yet he kept saying that it was a win for him for not quitting under moral pretence. I had just about enough of him, so left. Was I right to quit and is he right to count as a win?

If I were you, I wouldn't care. Are you in some sort of League or Tournament where wins and losses matter? Or is it a store or group policy? In those cases, there is always an administrator who can review the case, and give you a mediated answer.

However, if its for personal glory, I wouldn't even count the damn game. Who ing cares if he counts it as a win? And who cares if you count it as a draw? Honestly! This is the sort of stuff that makes 40k and its rules such a wonderful punching bag, because people forget it's just a game.

Yep. Double loss.

Both lost.

You don't win by pissing off your opponent, and you don't win by getting pissed off. Together, you were unable to have a fun, cordial game. So you both lost.

This.

I do not have fun steamrolling my opponent, cheesing them to win easier/faster, or getting the same treatment. I have fun in close matches where its unclear whos actually winning until T3 or 4 even. I dont keep track of all my wins or loses, i just know im roughly 50-50 (not even sure which is higher). Even when the game is decided by insanely bad dice luck i just feel bad and want to start over, because its so unfair when in a single turn my 2-3 units that could even fire wiped out 2-3 of his units.....when the odds were i would only cause a handful of wounds not wipe them out lol.

Had one opponent deepstrike 2 termie blobs, and both mishapped and rolled a 1 on the mishap table. That alone made me win the game, even though it was pretty close up until that. Day was young so we just started over lol.

What was it over? What was the argument? I always get a judge if it is a league game.

I hate to say it, but this is about as silly as arguing over the best flavor of ice cream.

It's not a real competition. Keeping a W/D/L record of who's ice cream choice is best over time is pointless. Coming to anger over something that meaningless, furthermore, is extremely unnecessary. It doesn't matter whose ego is bigger.

The only way you could have possibly won this is to forget that your record matters at all to anyone, and then been a responsible adult by just walking away once the situation devolved into whining and bickering. Or just let him have his temper tantrum, and his brief moment of perceived glory, and then never play a game with him again.

W/L/D is pointless.

E-knob comparisons, nothing more.

The result of the game is meaningless if you learned nothing or failed to enjoy it.
