I wanted to get the discussion started, given what we know so far and given that we want to use one of these. Which one would you run?

the stormfang has a slightly more powerful gun and would have been the obvious choice in 6th edition when you could go around zapping everything with it for 4-5 turns and then last minute grab objective with the 6 men inside. But now my money is on the stormwolf because of the capacity of 16 men (15 Blood claws + a wolf priest perhaps) as an assault fist to clear the path for your grey hunters and take objectives.

what do you think? The views in this thread might change if other info drops.

I lean towards the Stormwolf as you don't actually lose that much firepower in exchange for the massive transport capacity and the Assault Ramp. Being able blast targets from the moment you come onto the board and then hit something with 16 angry Wolves is pretty awesomely versatile. For the transported unit, 15 Blood Claws with a Wolf Priest would be the obvious choice, but there's maybe some merit to using the transport capacity for a squad of Wolf Guard.

In the Stormfang, there might be some mileage to dropping combi-armed Wolf Guard from the back to complement the firepower.

That is true with the combi weapon load out. However I suspect it isnt optimal since you want them to handle some big bad thing as early as possible and you want to have your flyer in flight mode as long as possible. Once your flyer hovers its dead and therefore the combi-loadout would be better of with just a drop pod.

Last minute grabbing is the real reason to bring the gunship

Funny enough, the transport variant reaches the point of LC + 2x Multi Melta + Cannon cheaper than the gunship.
