That could work, but you'd also want to sculpt the missing cloak portion. Dunno where you stand on that.

A nice easy conversion I saw here years ago was a standard Farseer and jetbike with no rider mounted to a 40mm base.

I cut off the upper half of a plastic farseer and green stuffed his cape. Then I cut his left arm at the robe and replaced it with a jetbike riders hand so he could properly grip the bike with his left.

Easier just to see:

Never finished painting, gotta get around to that.

I dont like it so much, but chapter house have a nice kit...
http://chapterhousestudios.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=118&product_id=161

I also imagine it is not so hard to convert one from dire avenger plastics, actual jetbikes bits, and the new plastic farseer, plus some green stuff for robes...

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

Kinda they were found to be infringing the intellectual property on certain items, which they don't sell anymore. Certain things like the Farseer on Jetbike were ruled to be ok to sell as GW don't have a concept of how they should look. This means that if GW try and release a Farseer and it looks anything like CH they will get sued.

This is a very basic explanation of the events, I believe there is a news and rumours thread that goes into it in more detail

More importantly, could I use the conversion in tournaments ie Adepticon, BAO, NOVA?

Can't see why not but only they can answer that fully

Maybe try and use something other than the jetbike, like the heavy weapon platform from the guardian kit. I managed to kitbash that and put a sorcerer on top and i'm using that as my farseer on jetbike

If it is still for sale on their site, GW were blocked by the courts from banning it.
So, it is a model that GW can have no objection to, but TOs might side with GW on that.
I have that kit, and the parts are a good base for conversions. If you're concerned about approval, I say to get the kit, and use the parts for conversions of GW parts.

The easiest kitbashes I have read about are:
a. Plastic Farseer's torso on the legs of a Windrider,
b. Any Farseer standing on the back of a Vyper.

I did one which is amongst my images on here. Have a peek. It's made with a Guardian heavy weapons platform, a back plate from a Wraithknight and, I think maybe a bit from a Jetbike. Everything from bits suppliers.

There are some models floating around, from the maker of the 'Russian Jetbikes'. Might want to take a squiz at them.

A common alternative I've seen is to mount the Farseer on the back of a Vyper, much like a chariot.

Yes any of these tournaments would be fine with a CH studios model. They are not specific that the GW model must be used and encourage conversions etc...
Few tournaments would restrict non GW models anymore. If GW got back into the tourney scene you might have an issue here and there but otherwise no big deal.

As a separate concept I know a lot of people are using the DE jetbikes instead of the boring Eldar ones.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

You have to email the guy who runs the site to get an order sorted, as they're made to order. He accepts paypal and the shipping is fully traceable though would definitely recommend to anybody the quality is superb, little touches like brass rods in all the weapons really make them worth it

In the short version: yeah, and GW lost. (GW actually win in some points, but in majority it lost).
