Hello all, just looking for some ideas on how to convert/scratch build some skaven gutter runners, I'm not a fan of the actual models. I need about 8 or so... I'm thinking of just using clan rats and green stuffing some cloaks and slings for them. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. Thx.

That's pretty much what most people do right there.

You've got these things from GW themselves for the clanrat models:

Night runners already have slings so lots of people use those. Mind you they are the older era models so kinda clunky looking vs the new clanrats.

They have the same monkey-arms as the older plastic clanrats (those clanrats were one of the very early multi pose boxes GW released. They were considered fantastic back then, but really when you compare them to everything else in the army now, they just don't measure up.)

The Sling-arms are labled as an upgrade for Skavenslaves, but, really, they're for our Gutter Runners.

What I did was get a pack of those arms, and then look through the Clanrat box for the most Eshin-y looking models (there's one with a long hood, and one or two with masks).

I considered using the cloaks on the old Nightrunner spru, but
they didn't fit quite right, and look a little static on the new models.

The only thing left to deal with is that rigid left hand/arm. Simplest thing I did: take one of arms holding a katar-style weapons from the Clanrat spru; the one that completely covers the back of the hand. Cut off the weapon and grind down the hand holding it. Then, just glue it in place over that left hand.
Other options I've seen include sculpting a knife handle on top of that hand and gluing a blade on the bottom, or a net, or holding the edge of his cloak, like Eshin troops are surely want to do:

I've done this very thing, but that said, the slings above come with a little baggie that is supposedly foll of rocks to sling. That one actually goes in (on) the static hand. People seem to misunderstand and hang it from a belt or something quite often, but it is actually meant to go in the off hand.

Eh. It works well for either. I never want more than 25% of my unit to be equipped exactly the same. They're Skaven, after all, so I go for a rag-tag look whenever possible. Especially with Gutter Runners, since they're all specialists. Like demi-characters.
So I've got 5 with slings, 2 holding the bags in their hands, 3 with two hand weapons, 2 with snare-nets, etc.
