I've not been on Dakka for months now, so I thought I'd get back into it by posting up what I've been working on. I paint at a glacial rate anyway, a bit here and a bit there, but with work getting in the way recently, I've been really slow in getting this stuff done. So, here goes nothing:

1st Demi Squad, 3rd Tactical Squad 'Guardians of Nocturne'

I decided for my latest tactical squad, the 'Guardians of Nocturne' I would model them along two different lines. One half of the squad would be a fire support section, whilst the other would be modelled along an assault theme. What follows below is the 1st (Fire Support) Demi-Squad.

Venerable Brother Karn'gon

The 2nd of my force's Ironclad Dreadnoughts.

Finally, the two together:

Apologies for the image quality - not my finest C&C more than welcome.

How did you do your powersword ive been looking to do one like this for my marines!

@RileyJessup - The power sword was fairly easy when I got down to it. I started by basecoating the sword with Abbadon Black, and then went through the following transitions, starting each new colour a little more towards the tip than the last (leaving a line of the previous colour showing). By building the colours up, you can avoid the darker colours from showing through. Make sure your strokes are all lengthways, to avoid streaking or unsightly marks.

In spoiler's due to length:

Spoiler:
50/50: Scab Red/Abaddon Black

Your freehand script is awesome, any specific techniques for it?

Thanks for the kind words people, it's given me a little more incentive to crack on with painting up my next batch - converted DV Terminators.

@Skimask Mohawk - The freehand is far easier than you'd think. I simply think of a word I want to write (translated into Latin as a preference) and then type it into Microsoft Word. I then change the font to a suitably Gothic appearing one and from there on, it's simply a case of copying the word from the screen onto the model with a paintbrush - no fancy tricks. Occasionally, I'll use a mechanical pencil, as it has a fine lead, to write the word onto the model - but that's usually only if I've got a confined space to work in.

@ScootyPuffJunior - Ironclad's are a particular favourite of mine as well. Eventually, I'd like to get around to painting up Bray'arth Ashmantle (supposedly the very first Mk IV Ironclad Dreadnought) to complete them.

Once again, thanks for the input - now I just need to get myself a better photo setup!
