Hi guys !

I am gathering a small force of salamanders as allies to my Grey Knight, and I usually use Vallejo Air Model paint to undercoat and paint (main colors). Can somebody help me to find which is the Vallejo air model I would use to have a good salamander green, the more approaching to the Citadel one ?

Thanks !

Unless you are deadset on using only VMA paints, you can use Vallejo Game color and start with a basecoat of Dark Green and start highlighting with a mix of Dark Green and Scorpy Green, adding more Scorypy Green over several highlights until you reach pure Scorpy Green.

Looking at my VMA paints, you might be able to start with Medium Green (71092) and use Zinc Green (71094) for a similar effect, but I don't think it would look as saturated as the Game Color.

I usually use my airbrush to paint the main color on the figs : on my grey knights, I made a mix of chrome and black, for the thousand sons I use a blue... than, using a brush, I finish the details with "regular" paint and washes...

Thanks for your answer, I will maybe replace my citadel paint by Vallejo ones. Do you prefer Vallejo on Citadel ?

Buypainted did a Vulkan painting guide. He mianly uses Vallejo paints. The colours he listed using are:

Paints used:
Vallejo Game Color: Dark Green, Scorpy Green, Dead White, Wolf Grey, Black, Gold Yellow, Charred Brown, Hexed Lichen, Cold Grey, Burnt Umber
Vallejo Air Color: Mahogany, Tank Brown, Fire Red, Orange, Yellow, Medium Sea Grey, German Grey, Steel, Burnt Umber
Citadel Colors: Mephiston Red, Rakkarth Flesh
Vallejo Liquid Gold: Old Gold, Copper
Other stuff: Vallejo Glaze Medium, Gloss Varnish, Satin Varnish, Oil paint Mameri Classico Terra di Cassel, White Spirit

It should be easy enough to work out which ones you need for which part, if not then you can watch the vid and he'll say when he uses each one. The green seems to be just two colours, Dark Green and Scorpy Green. He's a great guy with great videos, well worth subscribing too. Might have other salamander vids, not sure this was just the first that came up.
