So I was thinking, is this ok to do? I don't see why not, but I might be missing something,
I bought 4x vet squads with chimeras.
I want to deploy the vet squads around my LR (bubble wrapping).
I want to put the 4 empty chimeras in reserves, so they can come on at the end of the game and grab objectives.
Legal?

Yes. The dedicated transport doesn't have to have units in it but can come in from reserves and because of the wording it does retain objective secured because it counts as being a troop choice.

Yep, as long as you don't try to put anything in those chimeras while they are in reserve, it's legal.
Also legal: buying empty drop pods for things you have no intention of dropping in as means of increasing the total number of pods you drop in Turn 1.

Yeah, makes sense. If I were a space marine dropping into an enemy controlled zone, I would consider each empty pod to be an extra chance that the enemy anti aircraft weapons and heat seeking missiles might target the wrong thing.
Also, it's just like Starship Troopers. Which is the inspiration for these guys in the first place.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |
