In the warp, searching for Marbo

I just got the urge to create a special squad of veterans who will all be named, and un-generic looking. Mainly for mid to low point friendly games, I still want them to be bad asses on the board. So, I came up with a build, and was looking for advice on how to improve it.

Current Point Cost Total: 290pts

Veteran Squad *name yet to be determined*

Squad has all three doctrines, which I'd be willing to alter depending on the mission of which they are assigned. Based on the build below, I believe they are an assault squad. Mainly for taking out vehicles and large creatures with low ap attacks.

Sgt. w/Power Sword - 140pt
2x Meltaguns
1x Heavy Flamer
6x Shotguns

Joined by a HQ unit, right now I put a priest with them.

Valkyrie

I gave them shotguns, H. Flamer, and a powersword because I don't want them to fold under an assault while on their mission. I've had countless times when space marines, and other such units failed a charge, but wiped them off the board in the next round of shooting before. I'd rather counter attack...cuz that's what bad asses do. Maybe not smart ones, but then again dying in a glorious charge would probably be preferable to being ran over.

So, if y'all see any little improvements I could make, like a different person(s) that could join them, or equipment load out, or vehicle choice, let me know!

After all these years of searching for Marbo...he found me. Heretics beware! He's back!

In a Trayzn pokeball

I run an army where the troops currently are all veterans and life is good. I don't use plas/melta vets, instead I just give them a mix of grenade launchers and flamers, carapace and all the sargents have some special option to make the units all slightly unique (although they all have unit markings in their paintjob)
They are bad asses and I love them all, but they usually die when they leave their chimeras or ADL.
I think that for one T3 unit that's a lot, but I 'spose you do have a Valkyrie. However, for small points games, that's a not too effective points sink, since they are still basically guardsmen, you could take a lot for 300 points with AM.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.
