Is the insiders stories. Once all cards are off the table, there is no more GW employing and enforcing this code of silence, the many interviews we are going to get out of ex-employees are definitely going to shed some light, and be very interesting too I imagine. Maybe not from any of the core members (or maybe so) but I am definitely predicting ex-artists witness to the game development, and seeing the models they no doubt took pride in making being gak on, unused, and barely purchased due to balancing teams laziness. This is pure speculation (or, maybe, educated speculation), but what repercussions do you predict happening after the inevitable collapse?
Keep in mind this isn't a debate thread on whether or not GW is dying shortly, any posts on that subject are strictly off topic. Everything eventually goes down, even Rome eventually fell, sure some companies might outlive our lifetime, but lets be realistic, GW is no CocaCola, and this is strictly about what happens when the company does go down, IF it does. If you feel it never will, thats fine and you are entitled to your opinion, but it's irrelevant to this thread so you needn't make a post about it. I say this pre-emptively because I don't want this thread turning into the regular circular discussion of production quarters and yearly reports and all that jazz, not what this thread is about.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it. |

Having worked in the video game industry, where players complain just as much as with wargaming, I can say that it is most likely far less spectacular than you expect. Running a game as a business is much more demanding than most people imagine, it's far more than "Let's make the game as much fun as possible and the rest will solve itself".
Since most of the people working there got more insight that the players outside they are likely to not be that disgruntled. It mostly comes down to things like "resources were limited and thus we decided to use them on x instead of y".
But it's probably much more fun to speculate about evul companies trying to rob itself of its player base.

Aww :( Yeah that's so boring.
I imagine you are correct though, and I imagine a lot of the "ex-employee exposes ____ !" is bitter elaborations.
Doesn't make the stories any less entertaining though! Bring on the predictions.

Wouldn't it be hard to find a job inside the industry or something akin, if you suddenly started talking openly about how the job in your last firm worked?

You're right, and the smaller the industry, the harder the repercussions hit the whistleblower. With the internet there's always the possibility to talk anonymously. At least with video game companies that happens from time to time. But I guess wargaming is so small that it's easier to still find out who it was. If you only got 2 or 3 permanent employees doing one specific job (e.g. modelling) it is not hard to guess who the "anonymous" guy ranting about how bad modellers are paid is.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |
