So I'm preparing a list for my first 7th ed. game and could do with some advice. Here's my idea so far:

Iron Knights 1000 pts

Chapter Tactics
-Imperial Fists

HQ
-Captain- Artificer Armour, Relic Blade, Combi-Melta 145
-Librarian- Mastery Level 2, Force Sword 90

Elites
-Dreadnought- Heavy Flamer, Power Fist, Assault Cannon 130

Troops
-Tactical Squad (10)- Plasma Cannon, Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Rhino 210
-Tactical Squad (10)- Multi-Melta, Flamer, Power Sword, Rhino 205
-Scouts Squad (5)- Sniper Rifles, Camo Cloaks 70

Heavy Support
-Devastator Squad (5)- Lascannons x4 150

I'd combat squad both the Tacticals. Plasma Cannon stays at back of field, Captain and Librarian jump into Rhino with the combi-melta and Meltagun. Flamer and Power Sword marines get dropped off somewhere up field, whilst Multi-Melta fires from inside Rhino.

Thoughts? In terms of other models I have plenty more marines with weapon options, a squad of bolter scouts and very little else in the way of tanks/armour. Thanks

pretty new to the game as well but not sure i would leave the capt and libby out on a turn or two while you combat squad then get them into the rhino?

At 1000pt level I think your HQ is too expensive - I would probably scrap the captain and just pimp up the Libby a bit (lv2, Term. Armour, SS) and put the rest of the points towards boots on the ground.

With the scouts I would drop the sniper rifles, I don't find they contribute very much and they wont benefit from the CT. I would go for bolter & HB with hellfire rounds, and maybe add another unit of them for some Obsec infiltration or outflanking.

TAC squads are fine, but I would mix the DEVs for 2x LC and 2x ML so they can be a bit more flexible in target choice (unless you know you are going to be playing a lot of armour that is). You could also do with 2 extra guys in this unit to act as meat shield for the heavy weapons. And don't forget to use the signum!

Do you have any other weapons for the Dread? 2x TL AC is best for backfield Dread popping away at stuff (including as snap fire AA) but the assault cannon fit out really needs to be Drop podded in to get in range asap.

Also you don't have any AA, again may not be an issue unless you know your opponent is likely to bring some flyers - Storm Talon is the go to choice for marines but I guess you don't have the model? Don't bother with flakk missiles on MLs, you are better off just snap firing en mass. Do you have a drop pod?
