Hello I wanted to start a World Eaters Legion army with the space wolves codex. I have read that a lot of people hate this but oh well. What I wanted to know if this is a viable count as version, I am not planning to use any other codex, if I make this army:

For the models I wanted to use the following:

Angron as a Wolf Lord in Termie armor wielding Black Fang and a Frost axe
The reason fro the weapon choice is obvious, as its the only way to represent his two axes as one cannot chose two Frost axes.
And it will make him more special.

Kharn as a Wolf Lord, Frost Axe, Runic Armor and Plasma Pistol

5 Wolf Guard Terminators in Cataphractii armor painted in bronze to act as Angrons bodyguard.

5 Wolf Guard Terminators with khorne ears

(Kharns Bodyguard) 10 Wolf Guard, using Fw Khorne Berzerker armor painted in bronze with a lot of frost axes and lightening claws (just for cc)

30 Grey Hunters, FW zerkers painted classic khorne, Maybe one squad with boltguns instead of close combat weapons.

15 Blood Claws, mixing Forgeworlds rampager squad heads and berzerkers. painted classic khornish

6 Thundercavalry, juggers with Khrone berzerkers (with shields and axes)

5 Long Fangs, 5 Khorne Berzerkers, with black/bronze sheme

Venerable dreadnought, using the axe of Space Wolf version on the ForgeWorld one.

1 simple dreadnought from forgeworld

1 Murderfang using WE forge world dreadnought and fangs from the Space Wolf version.

3 Rhinos with World eater doors

Any toughts and input? I know this will be expensive but I wont buy everything at once and will probably be working on this for a year.

'Straya... Mate.

Angron is too big to be a terminator model, he has a model from forgeworld if you want to use him.
I would play you using this counts as space wolves army though for sure. Though that sort of thing doesn't bother me like it does other people.

angron is on the same base size as a termy so it doesn't matter what model you use, just so long as that's cool normally.

I would wait until the new BA book is out as they may portray world eaters better than even the crappy chaos dex

The wolves dex would make a perfect world eater army. I am currently running a Company of The Great Wolf termi army as a Word Bearers Anointed army. It works perfect.

Angron is supposed to be bigger than a normal space marine. If you go by the FW model he is even bigger than a termi. If you wanted a SW model to run him as I would almost use Grimmnar on his sled. You can use a larger model on that base plus it will get a ton of attacks, move faster than normal, and be really tough to kill. Just like Angron should be. Plus if you want to go post-heresy (which I am assuming you are) it would be the closet thing SW has that is appropiate in power, the next closet would be a ven dread but then that gets a bit confusing. But then he would not be able to join his body guard. If you don't want to do that then give him the Armor of Russ instead of the termi armor.

I would probably also give Kharn the wulfen stone. Also since you are running a SW dex I'd recommend making Kharns body guard 11 and putting them in a Landraider Crusader.

I personally would mix a few bolt guns in the Grey Hunters squads instead of making a pure bolter squad but thats me.

As a suggestion and give kind of a unique look to the army. Make a squad or 2 of Skyclaws. Use the standard berzerker body and toss on the jump pack. You get some more mobility, deepstrike capability and a squad that can quickly move to grab an objective.

I love this idea. The SW dex works great for some chaos armies. I'll be following this. Let us know what you decide to do. Also if you need some inspiration I can post some of my conversions for my SW/Anointed force.

Thanks for the reply.

Using Grimmnar as Angron is a great idea. So you think I can fit the FW angron model on the sled?

I will post updates when there are some. Currently I ordered 3 Forge World Berserker Kits and 2 GW standard Chaos space marines.
Next step will be Angron.

If I were you I would just ask your friends if you can play them with their 30k rules. Then if it's unbalanced you can use the SW dex. The 30k rules are much more fun.

30k seems like the obvious choice, but can it represent his 6 Jugger champs?

If I were to run something like this army I'd use the chaos codex;

AOBF Terminator lord or daemon prince for angron,
Kharn as kharn,
two units of terminators,
10 khorne chosen for kharn's buddies,
3x 10 khorne marines for the bulk of the army,
15 zerkers for the apex world eaters,
havoks for the long fangs (teeth of Khorne?)
and a helbrute formation for the dreads.

I struggle on representing six Juggers, and honestly I think having this many detracts from their impact as they are meant to be rare, I guess I'd have to settle running them as khorne spawn or bikers.

Anyway, best of luck to the OP and I hope you enjoy your army using the SW codex, don't let anyone tell you not to do what you want with your hobby .

Honestly the 30k rules are much better for representing the legions. They get rites of war which are basically much better chapter tactics. You can pick up both of the gamers rules for £50. But you should know that heresy lists don't gain the advantage until you start to go over 1750pts or more. That's where you can start adding the awesome stuff like primarchs and fancy units like destroyers.

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.

My idea of running Angron as Grimmnar wasn't putting him in the sled. Put the Angron model on a base the same size and use the extra stats from it to represent Angron being better than a normal marine. So the model would not have the sled on it nor the extra wolves. I know its not wysiwyg. But I think it would look weird have Angron in the sled if you did.

Now I was thinking and if you do run Angron as Grimmnar on the sled he cannot join a squad, so no bodyguard. What I would do is run Angron as a such.

Wolf Lord
-Armor of Russ
-Chain Axe
-Black Death
-Thunderwolf mount

Now you wouldn't actually mount him on the thunderwolf. I would just say his massive size counts as such, as long as he is based on a thunderwolf base. This all depends on the type of people you play against.

This way you can make his body guard be a squad of thunderwolf calvary modeled in the same way as he is, as a really big guy.
