I am new to Warhammer 40K and decided to play Chaos Space Marines. I was wondering what rules were regarding using a Space Marine vehicle like a Land Speeder or Stormtalon for Chaos Marines. I just want to know if it would be allowed, since they already share some vehicles.

The models out of the basic space marine codex can not be used by csm except by taking them as allies.

Blood for the bloo... wait no, I meant for Sanguinius!

CSM only have access to the vehicles in their own codex.

There are CSM variations of most if not all SM vehicles. If they aren't in the CSM book they are in the Imperial Armour books

This is pretty wrong. CSM are missing a lot of imperial vehicles and the IAs only served to make FW imperial vehicles for chaos and did nothing for the normal vehicles

For instance CSM don't have
-Land Speeder or Land Speeder Storm
-Drop Pods (dreadclaws don't count)
-Razorbacks
-Stormtalon
-Stormraven
-Any of the Land Raider Varients
-Hunter
-Stalker
-Whirlwind

Not to mention there are a lot of normal units that CSM don't get either like scouts or thunderfire cannons.

If Chaos had everything that Imperial Marines have, plus having access to all of the Chaos stuff, what point would there be in having the Imperial Marine codex?

Having said that, through the joy of the Unbound army selection process, you can have whatever the hell you want anyway. Because the fluff matters.

IA13 actually grants CSM's access to A GREAT DEAL of Imperium equipment- including some of the "newer" Land Raider variants.

Some of the Horus Heresy stuff (AKA WH30K) can also be used in games of 40K as Relics of the Armoury or whatever the equivalent is for CSM.

I've always considered building a SM army that looks like chaos. Of course, you would still have to follow all the rules out of Codex: SM (in regards to daemons, allies and CSM units). Painting and conversions can make anything possible. Could also lead to some interesting traitor guard allies.

The secret to chaos is that tainted or corrupted marines can infiltrate the ranks of loyalist as long they do not show their true colors or make their treachery seen.

You can build and paint any marine army loyalist, and then just say they are secretly chaos. You just cant have Land Speeder or Land Speeder Storm,-Drop Pods (dreadclaws don't count), Razorbacks, Stormtalon, Stormraven, Any of the Land Raider Varients, Hunter , Stalker, Whirlwind, scouts, thunderfire cannons.

Blood Angles Red=World Eater/ Khorne Red
Ultra Marine Blue= Tzeentch Thousand Sons Blue
Dark Angles Green= Nurgle Plague Marine Green
White Scars= The Blighted Ones (white)

Those are some examples.

I think it is just better to have a Space Marine army and then repaint or choose a color scheme that is shared by many chapters and chaos. That way you can play any of them. You will not be stuck playing chaos marines like I have for over 6 years. I have struggled with the short comings of Chaos Space marines ever since I started.
