So, I binged the first 5 episodes in go yesterday and I am absolutely loving this show!

Anyone else tried it yet?

For those who don't know, it's a show focused on Marco Polo's time in Kublai Khan's court.

I may have nearly watched the whole season on the release day on my day off...

SPOILER ALERT! Do no read till you have finished the series!

Spoiler:
Its good, does play around with the real time frame of events though and I was slightly annoyed with the last episode as the Mongals were known for having a healthy supply of cannons prior even to Kublai Khans reign. Yet the series makes out that the wall is an unconquerable obstacle until Polo shows them how to develop trebuchets.

You know, I'm actually really glad to hear this from some plebes like me. The only review I had read on the show thusfar was from a hipster TV snob, and he just bashed it.

I'll check it out.

(Here's the douchey review, btw)

I couldn't get over the fact that te Mongolians speak English, which is meant to be Latin I guess...so everyone knows Latin?

I'll give it a second try though seeing as how its garnered interest here?

Erm, no, the subtitles in the first episode point out that Polo learned to speak their language, not the other way around.

Anyway, I binged the entire show in two sessions. Hope it gets another season cause this is some great crack!

Were there be dragons....

Conn Iggulden does a very good series that follows the nation form Jhenjis Haan to Kublai Haan gaining the Khanite at the cost of his family. (This is the problem I have with the Series as the timeline of Kublai's reign in it does not match up to the actual series of events.)

Think he's hinting at (I'm with him) that your letting outside knowledge influence the your perception of the show. As the Supreme DM...I will not allow it

Are you surprised?

Unless they re-write history and film it with an "artistic liberty" of his world views then the show/movie/material is awful, horrible, racist, sexist and a few other buzz words.

It's alright. Comes across strongly as being a GoT knock off. Even if it's "not" it is undoubtedly aimed at the same target demographic.

I really enjoyed the first season, can't wait to see what they do with the second one, mantis kung fu FTW!

Plenty of boobage, although it took me a bit to realize that I've been spoiled by Stars Spartacus because I thought it needed more boobs per episode because it fell short of Spartacus, which is a flawed measure. Spartacus likes to set boobage display to 11 whenever possible. I'm also thankful that it doesn't sport the regular male frontals like Spartacus.

Worst part of the show is that all these skinny naked Asians remind me of an ex...I swear they all have the same damn body, it's like they're clones. Khutulun and Kokochin are entirely too damn hot.

I'm through 4 episodes. I'm enjoying the show despite itself. The writing is pretty bad, and the character development leaves alot to be desired. Example 1: The Song Empire villain. Just pure evil...no nuance.

Also, the accents are alot to get over. Mongolians with British, American, and Asian accents. Pick an accent, and stick with it, please!

I'd have enjoyed this show alot more if it was in the native languages with subtitles, but I know that doesn't sell well to the general public, which is what they're obviously going for.

Also, the Marco Polo actor leaves alot to be desired...and there's no way he would survive a week in the court of a khan that brutal with his devil-may-care attitude.

Critic hat off, I do like the show. Its pretty fun, and lays in enough hooks to make you want more.
