So I have a handful of Scions and a Knight. Expanding it seems easy, since being Imperial means you get access to a plethora of Battle Brothers, not to mention a very large Forgeworld library. However, I'm not sure what would fit the force more. I'm going to go for a balanced Scions force, at least one Valkyrie supported by 2-3 Tauroxes. The Knight is going to be magnetized to be either Paladin or Errant, so he's fairly flexible as to loadout.

The Scions are fairly fragile and short ranged, so there's a need to get them to their targets relatively unscathed. I was thinking some early alpha strike might be a good option. Something like Deathwing dropping in turn 1, or drop pods. Alternatively, bikers of one variety or another could potentially give them a good amount of cover and frontline support. An assassin or two could work as well, perhaps.

Of course, there's always the option to bring 2 more Knights and the formation, but that just seems rude in a more friendly environment

What do you think compliments Scions and a Knight the best right now?

I think it depends on which knight you chose.

Like I said, I'm going to magnetize the weapon (he's still not put together at the moment), so either of the non-Forgeworld ones. I do like the FW Knights, just a bit on the expensive side.

a few units of Sororitas Dominons in Immolators would work well, - scouting and with up to 4 melta guns in the squad, plus their Ignore Cover Act of Faith

Its not something most opponents can ignore

I'd go with AM, just because you seem to be lacking ranged firepower. Take a CCS and a platoon, maybe some wyverns if points allow.

I don't know as much about IG/AM. I thought Platoons were more for the bodies they bring, not so much for the firepower (especially at a long range).

Take a 5 squad platoon, each squad taking a lascannon or autocannon. You get a nice blob of ranged firepower to bubble wrap your artillery or tanks with.

Just remember to bring a priest/comissar so they don't all run away.

Id say PCS with 4 flamers in vendetta
Pask with punisher and eradicator wingman (or a CCS with lascannon and chimera)
Platoon squad with Lascanon x5 (blob) + priest (gives fearless)
3 wyverns squadron

That's probably 600-800 points (depending on if you take pask) and makes for a good fire support base.
