I have a 1500 point list and I want to take it to 1850

priest: bike, chainsword, valor edge
tactical squadx10: heavy flamer, flamer, 2 hand flamers, drop pod
scoutsx5: snipers, camo cloaks
death companyx5: jump pack, pfist, power sword

assault squadx5: 2melta, combimelta, drop pod

furioso dreadnought: frag cannon, heavy flamer, drop pod

to get up to 1850 I added the 2 dreads, and the valors edge on a chainsword for the priest instead of a combigrav. I found that the bikers often have opputunity to charge or they get charged from something like a warp spider to tar pit the grav shots. so I maybe prefer a cc weapon that is killy over the one shot grav. Your thoughts? Is there a better way to use DC? Is there a better option than camo cloaks and valor edge? maybe more DC bodies? I like using 2 storm ravens together. 5 drop pods would be nice

Start with the DC on the board, not in Ravens. If someone drop pods YOU, you need your DC to be able to assault turn 1.

I could get another squad of dc. Take out the Ravens.
What do people do for aa without Ravens? Devs with sky fire missiles? Glance em down?

Drop the combi-flamer and give your sarge 2 hand flamers for maximum template goodness.

So as far as storm Ravens and dc, i can keep that list, but depending on my opponents i can choose to keep dc in the ravens to start the game or deploy on the board and have an empty storm raven?

I personally like 10 man units of DC they survive much longer also I'm not a fan of the heavy flamer on the dreads when you are taking the frag cannon only because I like them to be a threat to tanks aswell.

I see what you're saying in the dreadnoughts. I like specializing, and i have 2 podded asm melta squads for tanks. For the dreads i would not usually drop near a tank to bust it and then die without using the frag cannon. I would typically drop by a decent infantry or something in cover to utilize the template. I would save points and get another template with heavy flamers. Though there are times when i would like to pot shot a melta on a tank if it rolled too close.

The death company i agree completely. With more bodies i wouldn't fit in a raven and wouldn't want to waste points on it then. how do you deal with fliers?

The melta a frag cannon are the same price. and dont forget your frag cannon only needs 4s on rear armor but its personal preference on them. I Saw you asked what people do about flyers with out storm ravens and really nothing flyers are BA real weakness
