hey guys been playing dark angels with bikes termys and a marine command squad in crusader.
been wanting to do just a ravenwing list but I havnt won a game yet with my dark angels.
Ive been looking at my core units which are the toops as bikes I have a gak load of bikes attack bikes and land speeder.
Im just wondering whats the best way to run them?
I was thinking my squads of 6 x bikes with 2 flamers give them the land speeder with 2 flamers.
My melta squads I wasnt sure if I should run them at 4 bikes with 2 meltas and an attack bike. The advantage would be I can get more melta on the board for points.
or run them at a full 6 bikes with 2 melta, an attack bike with mm and a vet serg with power fist.
My thoughts of this load out was have them combat squad.
vet with power fist roll with 2 basic bikes. the 2 meltas roll with 1 basic bike but have roll them together and scout unit up the board. (since my bikes get scout does that mean my land speeder gets scout coz hes part of the unit?)
fire on the high armored unit and if it didnt die I could assault in with vet with his power fist to finish the job/or tie up unit or if the other bikes can harm target I could send them in as well.
If they didnt beat target I could hit and run out and try again next turn. but my concern about hit and run is when I pull the roll off and get away, could that unit move at me, shoot and then assault me? making the hit and run a bad idea?
so maybe keep the vet with power fist locked in combat with target? anyways I havnt tried hit and run and would like peoples views and experience on this and opinions about ravenwing. thanks heaps

That block of text is hard to read. Can you make your questions their own paragraph each. It might help.

over there

Use hit and run, and bolters, that is all.

The west is on its death spiral.

It was a good run.

for ravenwing bike squads go all melta. You have the mobility to get into melta range with bikes sooner. Plasma and flamers are lackluster for bikes. You have access to plasma in nearly every other unit you can field, and black knights are going to do plasma better.

As for flamers, you are running bikes. twin linked bolters will probably do the same hits and damage at the same strength and better range than flamers will. Also when you jink you won't be able to use your flamers for a turn, seems like a waste to me.

The only time I wouldn't go all melta might be when using combat squadded ObjSec landspeeders armed with typhoon missles to hold backfield objectives.

Don't waste points by putting a powerfist on your sergeant. you have hit and run, you won't be getting stuck in combat where you will need the fist to dig yourself out, just use krak grenades, also the fist just puts a big "shoot me" sign on that squad.

Twin flamer landspeeders are now the worst loadout. When you jink (not if) you lose all of your shooting. all you opponent has to do is point anything S4 or greater at your speeders and they have made you waste points bringing them in the first place.

I run 2 full melta and 1 full plasma squad ususally.
each takes a MM attack bike
and a HB Missle speeder.

then I take 3 more individual speeders built the same way in fast attack.

And I run the dakka banner on 5 command squad bikes with sammael on a bike.

Then I'll ether add and IK or some space marine allies. Usually does pretty well. One time I ran 3 dakka preds with it and it did REAL well. It's a totally mobile force but all around it's real frail and super vunerable to ignore cover - which is basically everywhere. Good luck with the DA man - I think they are fun to play - certainly in friendly games.

With the prevalent of Maelstorm missions... I Ravenwing variants being quite effective.

They're the king of MSU armies, being that the RW units are objsec. Try to take advantage of that.
