Hi All

Have been looking to get into x-wing and/or armada for some time now and have decided im going to get 1 of the starter boxes to learn the rules ect.

The question i have is which to do first? is it better learning the rules for X-wing then later getting armada or vice versa?

That depends... what are you more interested in: tactical dogfights or tactical fleet combat?

While there are a few common threads between both games, the rules are a lot different so there is no advantage in learning one before the other. In my opinion, both games are pretty straightforward and the basics can be taught in a matter of minutes. It's hard for me to say which is easier to learn, though I am leaning toward X-Wing in that regard (but then again, I've played X-Wing since it was released in 2012 so my memory of learning to play is a little hazy).

Brilliant!! that makes it easyer i was leaning towards armada as who dosent like capital ship battles!!

They are very different games but something to keep in mind is that Armada is a fair bit more expensive to start.

Yep.

I just bought all of Wave I on the Rebel side and it set me back $95 (I got a 10% discount from my FLGS).

I quite luckily managed to get a VSD, Neb, CR90, three Gladiators, two Mk IIs, and both fighter packs for well under 180 USD. You have to ferret out a deal if you want to really get into it.

I have some money saved up that was goingtowards a new Eldar army (started pre codex update) - but if i started now i think i would become TFG haha and yea i looked at getting wave 1 as well then converted to GBP and was like - ill just get the starter box to begin with haha.

Im like a kid at christmass atm just want to play it now, been reading the first impressions post and want to play!! haha

X wing is great but armada is what Star Wars is really about for me. I wish armada came out first personally I would not have gotten all the X wing stuff that will probably just collect dust now
