Since the Onager Dunecrawler has legs that make it taller than the Aegis Defenseline, how much cover will the Onager Dunecrawler get? 4+ or 5+?

It entirely depends on the LOS. You might not get a cover save from a shooter that's higher up, or at a particular angle to the target. In the end, if the model is 25% obscured, it gets a cover save, which in this case would be 4+ for an aegis line right? Best way to figure this out is stick it on a table, get down at the firer's POV from various heights/positions/angles and see how much is obscured.

I'm debating on buying the Aegis Defenseline. If I can get a 4+ cover save for the Onagers than it would be a very solid choice!

Non if you are not 25% covered chances are very good that you will not be able to cover 25% of the vehicle since its the majority of it is off the ground.

From the look of things, it looks like the Onager would be roughly 50% covered, from a straight-on POV, but not if the firer had any kind of elevation on it.
At a rough estimate, the top of the ADL's wall should come up to roughly the mid-point of the model, which would cover all its legs and leave its weapons visible above the top of the wall.
ETA: Though, in looking closer, I didn't realize the Onager was so big... so I may be wrong. I don't think the ADL is tall enough to come up to its "knees".

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

It entirely depends on the LoS of the firer in relation to the Onager and the ADL.
A Warlord Titan can get cover from an ADL if the LoS is right.

IT might barley clip the main body but it shouldn't be tall enough to get much of the model.
Dont forget that Some play groups also play fast and loose with the terrain rules too. so they might be ok with just giving the cover to you.
Lastly you aught to get it anyway since prices are probably going up soon. and at that its very useful in many armies and if not can be used as in game terrain which tables need more of.
