Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

-Is I.G Footguard Dead?
This was the question posed to me recently.
-The general consensus was that Imperial Guard Infantry Lists can't perform in 7th ed.
-I have set out to prove the worth of Mass Infantry lists.
as such, I want to be using ONLY infantry in my lists, and as group 'games-host', I would maybe like some advice as to board set-up.
here's the list thus far.
Company Command Squad:...80
Regimental Standard
Voxcaster
Platoon Command Squad:...55
2 Grenade Launchers
Heavy Bolter
Voxcaster
Infantry Squad:...80
Plasmagun
Heavy Bolter

Infantry Squad:...80

Platoon Command Squad:...55
2 Grenade Launchers
Autocannon
Voxcaster
Infantry Squad:...80
Plasmagun

Voxcaster
Infantry Squad:...80

Aegis Defence Line.....50
---------------------
Total: 560pts.
where should I spend the last 40pts?
and what is the consensus online as to footguard? is It plausible?
-the list features 55 infantry models atm.
I'm not trying to be overly-competitive,
and I reckon infantry spam could work in terrain such as my own,
which is heavy city terrain.
what do you think?
---------------------
My Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help a guy out here!
Cheers!

If you want to go only infantry then I think you're in for an uphill struggle. Infantry based lists with more mobile elements such as flyers can be good but not infantry on its own. If you were prepared to add in artillery (especially some of the FW stuff) then it could be better.
I think it's also hard to do an effective blob list at 600 points, as all the things which make blobs shine like Yarrick, priests, primaris psykers, etc. take up a very large proportion of the points compared to a 1500+ point list.
As for this list itself I don't think the way you've mixed the weapons is particularly efficient. The only remotely threatening thing is three autocannons.

Feasible: as mentioned- I know the strengths of guard are the leman russ. I love 'em. I own 18, from my massive valhallan tank company. unfortunately, your comment is sort of inapplicable, -as I stated I'm going for infantry hordes.
ryuken87: yup! uphill struggles are going to be common, but I'm not TOO worried about that. I know that most of the time, I'm going to get soundly destroyed. however, in larger point games I'll include my 9 earth shaker cannon platforms (FW)(made from basilisk kits) for some heavy firepower. the army is ALL about CHARACTER. and the load outs are as I bought them off of eBay. the force isn't meant to do well, but rather be fun, & promote maximum shiggles and make newer players feel better about their armies. people beat up on the noobs too often where I play, and I really want to do something nice for them, and also have awesome fun, with a crazily character fully bad army. this may sound stupid, but honestly I'd rather have some fun and promote friendly gaming. lead by example, and maybe people will stop buying FOTM hyper-competitive armies, then beating up on the weak.

Well, if it's fun you want this is one of my slightly altered footguard lists :
HQ
- CCS w/ missile launcher, boltgun
- Ministorum priest
Troops
-Infantry platoon : PCS w/ autocannon, boltgun
Infantry squad w/ autocannon, boltgun
Infantry squad - 50 w/ autocannon, boltgun
Infantry squad w/ autocannon
50x conscripts
-Veterans w/ missile launcher, boltgun
Fortification
Aegis defence line
600 points exactly with a total of 101 guardsmen! I would say its semi competitive though normally I only run with 27 conscripts and a wyvern instead of the 50 conscripts, but there is nothing more fun than charging 50 guardsmen down the middle of the board headless of enemy fire with a priest giving them all the nice buffs.

Chaplain,
Yentzer's list keeps a lot of the mid-strength firepower of your list, but adds in the durability of a large conscript blob. I like it.
Note that you might want to drop an infantry squad and toss in 3 or 4 meltaguns or 3 5 or 6 meltabombs into your list because, as Feasible notes, AV14 (or AV12-13 or MCs) are things you need to deal with.
Good luck!

Yes infantry spam in city terrian will work well. Long range weps are great, but not if there is no LoS.
Give them krak granades and get as many squads as you can. I would drop the plasmaguns/ autocannons/Launchers. One krak squad assaulting, a vehicle with av10 rear( which is many vehicles) will usually strip 3 hull points.
If you see a land raider at 600 ignore it - you will win anyways
Swamp the objectives with men, you should do fine.
How about this run as MSU
CCS
PCS
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
PCS
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
IS+Krak
600 exactly - 95 bodies. 80 of them able to take on vehicles/ MC's.

Welcome to the foot guard!
There is 1 golden rule with foot guard: Men, men and more men!
At this points level you want to have a solid core or Platoon squads with a sprinkling of conscripts.
Your platoon squads will do the killing and the conscripts will give more numbers to help bulk your force up, but more importantly they are a mobile cover save!
I suggest this list:
Lord Commissar:
Commissar
Platoon 1:
PCS: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Infantry squad: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Infantry Squad: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Conscripts: 28 men
Platoon 2:
PCS: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Infantry squad: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Infantry Squad: Autocannon and Grenade Launcher
Conscripts: 27men
107 men with lots of firepower. As others have said don't worry about AV14 unless you are going to be facing other IG players.
The reason why I use commissars over priests is because I want my conscripts to obey orders. In close combat they are just going to die, but both of blobs getting first rank fire second rank fire off = 165 shots. Not bad for your super expendable mobile cover save unit!

6000 pts of Foot Guard
"I once gave the order to one of my platoons to fix bayonets and charge a squad of genestealers. If they believed in the emperor hard enough they could win... I don't think they believed enough..." |

I don't think you understand..... You have nothing to destroy AV14

Thanks Guys! Really appreciate the advice!
First, a quick apology, -Feasible- Sorry, I completely mis-understood your comment, apologies for the semi-hostile response....-You are correct, there is nothing to deal with AV14, though this isn't really a problem as a face a single player who fields a LR, about once a year.... again, I apologise.
-Yentzer- Cheers for the awesome list! I think I may well have to try this out!
-To Everyone else- Thank You for taking the time to respond guys, while I haven't got a long enough break to list the advice I've taken, everything has been carefully considered! also, I really do appreciate the warm welcome I received to this rather under-valued play style! thanks again!
-Chaplain Xenophobe.
