Planet Funk-O-Tron

HQ:
Farsight 170

Shas'O Pulse Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Multitracker 112
Shas'Vre PR, FB, TA, MT 77
Shas'Vre PR, FB, TA, MT 77

Elites:
6x XV-15 180

Troops:
2x 12 Shas'la + Devilfish w/ Decoy Launcher 410

Heavy Support:
Hammerhead w/ Rail Gun, Multitracker, Target Lock, Burst Cannon, Decoy Launcher 175

XV-88 with Advanced Stabilization System 80

Fast Attack:
8x Pathfinders + DF w/ DL, Smart Missile System 201

Total: 1487
4 vehicles, 11 XV's, 36 infantry

Basic idea: Farsight hangs out with the Shas'O, they run around, roast things and then stomp 'em in the assault phase if they aren't too big. Pathfinders spot and act as a lure, BASS and Hammerhead take down vehicles, and the infantry do their thing.

I feel like this list could really be tightened up some though, I'm just not sure how.

Party on, dudes.

well, I think the best rules when using O'Shovah is that you can give a Squad up to 7(!) Krisis and retunine. you should work with that

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Agreed, seven crisis all with plasma, assorted other equipment + 2 markerlight hits = lethal.

Your list also needs a Crisis team as elites to be legal.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It's also a massive points sink.

I'd start with something like this (if I had to do O'Shovah, which fails to convince me).

O'shovah+3 BS4 fireknives
2x2 Fireknives
1x4 Stealth
2x10 FCW w/'ui
8 'finders w/'ui inna fish w/decoy (maybe SMS)
2 broadsides w/ASS; leader w/2 shield drones.

That's around 1400 points (assuming the SMS, 1380 w/out), which leaves 100-120 points left to add another bodyguard, a BS5 'el w/CIB/MPanother FCW team, give one of 'em a fish, add a DS piranha w/BS4 and fusion, or lose the Stealths, add 2 more fireknives and a BS5 FK'el.

Still a mess 'o suits (@1400, 9 crisis, 2 broadsides), but gives you some options as well.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

The 7 man bodyguard is worthless, anyone who takes it shouldn't play Tau. Hiding a 3 man crisis suit team can be challenging at times, but hiding an 8 man crisis suit team is damn near impossible. Farsight list strengths are in the free bonding for every squad. That saves a large amount of points. As for your list a few things are off. First you are required to have 1 crisis suit team with farsight. Second your bodyguards are 5 points more, and finally your hammerhead is 5 points less.

I really don't find mounted firewarrior teams to be cost effective in farsight list. I realize their power, but they're so expensive that they detract from your firepower. If I were to recreate the list it would look like this:

HQ
Farsight
170pts

Shas'O: Plasma, Fusion, Shield Generator, HW Multi, Stimulant Injector
142pts

ELITES
6x Stealth Suits
180pts

Monat Crisis Suit: Team Leader, Plasma, Fusion, Targeting Array, HW Multi
77pts

Monat Crisis Suit: Team Leader, Plasma, Fusion, Targeting Array, HW Multi
77pts

TROOPS
12x Firewarriors: Shas'ui, Markerlight, HW Drone Controller, 2x Marker Drones
200pts

12x Firewarriors: Shas'ui, Markerlight, HW Drone Controller, 2x Marker Drones
200pts

HEAVY SUPPORT
Hammerhead: Railgun, Burst Cannons, Multi, Target Lock, Disruption Pod, Decoy Launchers
175pts

Broadside: Team Leader, Advanced Stabilization System, HW Drone Controller, 2x Shield drones
115pts

2x Sniper Drone Teams
160pts

TOTAL: 1496

You keep the same number of markerlights, but now you have 6 networked ones, 2 of which hit on 3's. The Monat Crisis suits can still work together, but one suit will draw fire from an entire sqaud, they also take care of your crisis suit requirment. The Shas'O has some added survivability and should hang out with Farsight, shooting and charging sqauds. The Broadside has some added survivability, which is always a plus for antitank units. Sniper drones will add some nice punch agaist power armor and are great at supporting firewarrior teams.

I am not sure. a large bodyguard team shouls include some shield drones, and maybe some marker drones too if you have no markerlights elsewhere. Yes they are expensive but all in all it represents a real saving when you boost the entire team to Bs5. It will take far more markerlights to boost the same number of Crisis suits spread about many teams.

Yes you cant screen them, but O'Shovahs bodyguard is not about screening, its about horrendous concentration of firepower.

I like O'shovah, an interesting special character. But I would rather play a normal list though.

The list above has nothing wrong with it. You dont need a bodyguard, but if you wanted one you might as well use the advantage of taking a large one.

I worked it out, a 7 man bodyguard squad with shield drones and fire knife is nearly unkillable by reasonable means. It literally takes 3 falcons shooting at them for 3 turns just to kill the shield drones. Stay out of rapid fire range and you're for all intents and purposes unkillable.

Throw in a few markerlights and you will annihilate a squad every turn (8 plasma shots, 14 missile pod shots, BS5 on everyone). Concentrate on limiting avenues of fire and annihilating the things that pose a threat to you one by one. Play VP denial with the rest of your army - crisis squads with shield drones, long range pathfinder squad, small FCW squads at 30", broadsides with shield drones, etc.

It would be quite brutal I betcha. The all shield drones army is absolutely best with Farsight. You must be very very careful with leadership however - things that impact your ld are going to get ugly.

needs targetlocks though otherwise your 1000 pt unit can only shoot 1 thing a turn
