Does anyone know why infantry squads can't take medics?
If I put one in a PCS, does that allow me to have feel no pain on the infantry blob?

The FNP applies on the command squad only. It would be totally broken giving FNP to 50 guardsmen for so cheap.

I'm pretty sure the PCS can't even join a blob squad anyway, unless I'm thinking of a different entry.
As for why they can't take medics, that would be because the codex doesn't allow it.
But seriously, it would be dirt cheap and broken to be able to do that...

Wouldn't exactly be hard to say "for every 10 soldiers in the group you must have 1 medic for it to work at all" and it would be much more expensive, not at all broken and very flavourful.
But that's not how rules are written.
One medic in a 50 man blob taking care of everyone in a round where they are all pie-plated would be one hyperactive guy

I dunno about flavourful. The guard isn't exactly renowned for valuing human life.
"Medics for the rank-and-file? And I suppose we'll have to provide each of them with food as well, now? Ha!"

Ok, then Improvised Bandages for 5 points per model in the unit. They look out for each other, because Command sure won't.

And yet, the Kriegsmen Quartermaster provides FNP to stuff withtin 6'' of him.
Could probably work something with that, even if its just a 6+ save

Actually, having a medic as an integral part of the platoon command is pretty good. It's the same as a US Army infantry platoon, from what I can see.
Giving the squad they're in FNP is a bit of a comedown from previous editions, but the rules were awfully fiddly. Really, it should be a campaign thing - surviving medics reduce the number of casualties that are actually dead rather than simply wounded. Perhaps something like D6 models per medic can be counted as not casualties at the end of the game, for the purposes of victory point calculations.

Doesn't chaos have FnP for 30pts on 20 man sized meq squads and free on Plague Marines?

I once tried a SW wolf priest with the Wulfenstone in a blob.
Worked pretty good.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |
