Hi!

I feel like dusting off my old fantasy wargaming rules, making them better and releasing them in hope of winning all the dissatisfied WHFB fans out there and gaining ETERNAL GLORY.

But first, I need to do some fanbase research (which from day one makes me 100% better than the GW). What would you like your dream fantasy wargame to be? Which rules of WHFB are great and which should go?

I'll be happy with all ideas as long as they involve 28 mm fantasy miniatures.

Personally I find the following essential

Simple, fast play rules
Pre-measuring
Not confined to blocks - more freedom of movement with units- 40k style - perhaps with bonuses for staying in close formation
Customisable units
Terrain that matters

I agree with all of this, but I personally am a fine of blocks of units. Perhaps some units could be "mandatory" that they stay in blocks, or have a mechanic for block bonuses/morale penalties.

Say for example, a unit of cavalry charges into a unit of infantry. The infantry unit must pass a "morale check" of some type to see if they hold through the charge. If they win, then the cavalry automatically "loses" their charge, and their formation is broken up. If the cavalry unit "wins" the charge, then the block of infantry is broken up while the cav unit is still in it's original formation. IMO, that would simulate actual historical events, as units could breakdown and the melee becomes more and more chaotic, "units" become less and less important as self-preservation and survival kick in
